My wife and myself recently spent 2 nights in Lightning Ridge and styed at the Wallangulla Motel. Centrally located in the centre of town and within easy walking distance to many of the attractions, shops and restaurants with the bowling club across the road where you can charge back to your room. A clean and tidy property with a nice and comfy bed to bunk down for the night. We were in the Gem Court section of the motel which is the more modern style of room. Would definitely stay here again next time we visit the Ridge

Not expecting 5 star in Lightening Ridge, however still felt let down. The positive is the central location and directly opposite the bowling club (which actually owns the motel). If you sign up as a visitor member for $3 you can receive 10% discount on food, drink and the accommodation, so well worthwhile. And given occupancy levels appear to be nearly at 100% in town, need to book in advance.
Disappointingly the pictures in the promotion of the Motel are from the newer block behind the older existing rooms, which range from number 1-32, so try to obtain a room in the newer wing numbered higher than 32.
Try to also avoid room 8 or 9 as they are located adjacent the breakfast kitchen where they start work early and not quietly. Complimentary wi-fi is solid if in a room located closer to the reception office. Rooms further away do not pick up the signal.
Compare this motel to others around Australia it would rate as average, but in Lightning Ridge I would say was one of the better ones on offer if you pick the newer block to stay in. We had a reasonably comfortable stay and if we returned to Lightening Ridge would consider staying here again.
