Rather than getting ripped off in the Hunter, and having to fight off the crowds, get yourself a room/villa and Briar's, book dinner at the restaurant and check out some of the local
Wineries in the southern highlands area.
Clean rooms, with all the comforts you'd expect. Restaurant has some great food and craft beers. Will definitely be going back to this place, even if it is just for the truffles fries.

This country Inn is a must stay when travelling north or south from Melbourne, and we have just stayed for our third time over the past 5 years. Beautifully set out in its own grounds with small lake the accomodation is excellent and the on site but separate restaurant is a delight. You can even cook your own steak on the in house barbeque if you so choose. Service is good, environment warm and inviting. What else would you want or need! Must be one of the nicest country Inns going around. John

Room Tip: Most King rooms offer lovely views over the lake

We spent two nights at Briars for a wedding with accommodation and breakfast. Briars is close to both Moss Vale and Bowral. The rooms had a view over the dam with fountain and were well set up. As it was Winter, the room was beautifully warm. There is a fully functionally restaurant and bar which was great for late afternoon drinks.

The venue for the wedding by the dam was amazing and the function centre was ideal with plenty of room for dancing as well as seating.

We had an amazing weekend.

Beware of this hotel. Heating totally inadequate ( the Highlands in August is very cold) and although Internet promised, it was so poor as to be unusable. Shame to be so disappointed with an old Highlands icon.

A beautiful location outside of Bowral. The room was very spacious, with a nice bathroom. The rear door opens onto a huge garden area with a duck pond. We spent some time wandering around outside. All very tranquil.

Looks like it would be a great setting for a wedding.
