We love this site and have been coming here every year for the last 6 years. The staff are welcoming and the owner, Steve, could not be more helpful. This year we arrived in a monsoon and our pitch became very muddy and not really useable. We thought we would have to go home, but I spoke to Steve, and despite being nearly at capacity, he found us another pitch by the stream that was much less soggy. I can't praise them highly enough. We have small children and the quietness policy is perfect for us ensuring we all get a good nights sleep. The addition of food vans over the last couple of years is very handy after a day on the beach. We have been to other places, but Sun Haven Valley is our home-from-home. See you soon guys.

It is beautiful, chilled and in a fantastic location! Could not ask for a better site. Have nothing negative to comment on. Short walk to the beach (again beautiful), amenities near by and the chickens/ducks were great!

Thanks for a great time and ensuring it remains peaceful, see you next year

I would first like to say this is a lovely site, peaceful, love the ducks and chickens and good location to the beach and amenities. However I'm sorry to say I think standards aren't great in the caravans which are used for people with dogs .We are aware that the pet friendly caravans are the older style we stayed in a different one before however these are sadly now very tatty and should be either re-furnished or replaced for more modern vans. The first impression was unfortunately the doggy smell in the caravan which is not acceptable no one wants to smell other people's dogs and ours are very clean, our house does not smell.Sad to say the caravan was not well cleaned i had to wipe down kitchen surfaces and cooker which had marks and dirt,I have my own cleaning business and do not expect to have to do that on holiday. They may be having cleaning issues as they were advertising for cleaning staff but never the less that's no excuse. There is no curtain on the living room glass door although there is a tie back so if someone had been sleeping in the living space they wouldn't have slept too well once it became light. We did try to pull out the sofa bed to sit on as the sofa was not very comfortable but we were unable to do it as it appeared to be unstable so didn't bother. The air vents in the bathroom and kitchen roof were very dirty full of cobwebs and dirt and there was dust on surfaces. No mat inside the front door to wipe your feet or a mop to wipe it over either so difficult to keep clean. We would have loved to have come back to your site but sadly won't until you update your pet friendly caravans as we have found out The Park are renting brand new caravans/lodges and allowing dogs in those.Just because you have dogs does not mean you expect a lower standard of accommodation this is such a shame as your other non pet friendly caravans are much nicer.

When you arrived with your relations for your 2 caravan holiday, your in-laws (?) were very lucky because in order to accommodate a request from a regular customer your in-laws were given a major upgrade to one of our best caravans.

You then demanded that you also have the same upgrade, but were declined, as was explained to you, partly because it was unnecessary and partly because we don’t put dogs in our new caravans due to the minority of dog owners who cause so much damage.

We supply hoovers, dustpans and brushes but do not supply mops and buckets in a carpeted caravan. I was always taught to take my muddy shoes off before walking over the carpet , but perhaps it was the muddy feet of the dog causing the problem that required the mop ? - that would be the muddy feet of the dog you wanted to put into one of our new caravans ? & next time perhaps we should provide you with upholstery cleaner as well.
We note that you were able to pre-examine the caravan you booked by looking at the specific individual pictures on the internet - but then your main problem seemed to be that you wanted something more than you had paid for.

I apologise that the kitchen worktops had to be wiped down, when the cleaners miss something we are always happy to send someone back in to complete the cleaning if you come and ask. I am glad there was no problem with the bathroom, bedrooms, lounge, hallways and carpets. Now that the main season is over we are of course reducing staff and have no adverts anywhere for cleaners – or did you make that bit up for fun ?

Your dog doesn’t smell ?
- and I’m sure it’s feet don’t get dirty either.
Everything smells. It’s a question of what smells you are used to. Some people have dogs that smell so badly that Febreeze and commercial odour killers won’t remove their smell and we leave electric air fresheners in the vans. Whilst this small minority of dog owners don’t appear to notice the smell they leave, your observations have reinforced the fact that we should not have dogs in our best vans.

Your other points

The Park are not renting brand new caravans to dog owners – they are renting 2005 Willerby “vacation” caravans – and of course we take a great deal of business from ‘The Parks’’ because our prices are approximately 50% of theirs – and that’s before they add on £40/week/dog.

There should have been a door mat inside the van and had you asked ( as suggested by the information folder supplied in each van) a replacement would have been provided. The children in the van the week before were a little adventurous and who knows what they did with it.

Caravan fold up beds are firstly designed to fold up into a 12 inch by 18 inch space and tehn designed to be a back-up for sleeping accommodation. All caravan beds should probably be equated to a very robust camp bed – they are not designed to replace the upholstered furniture. Have you stayed in a caravan before ?

The door curtain, - which you did not need as you were not using the sofa bed,- had been ripped down by children in the van the week before your arrival ( you were in no 11, a quick look at Nos 9 & 10 would show you the curtains as they should be) and unfortunately we have some major work to place new supports behind the wall panelling and have to wait for the new curtain rail to be delivered before we can replace it.

I apologise if the cobwebs in the wall cavity behind the plastic vent grating spoiled your holiday. Having some 30+ caravans to clean in 5 hours every week we tend to leave such items until the major winter spring clean – can I ask which chair you stood on to have a look ?

May I just add that whilst most dog owners seem to be very nice people, 2% of dog owners cause more damage, more problems and produce more complaints than the other 98% of our visitors and you have yet again raised the question – when will we join the majority of other parks and ban dogs altogether ?

We are there for 5 nights family of 15. Place location are great reception people are friendly our just concern is we got 7 children's and adults so will be bit noise when we chat and doing BBQ. According to rule we not all our to disturb or make noise after 10.30 but the staff of member keep coming to our camp and asking us not to make noise common we have kids it's really annoying us one day the came at 5 pm and one guy come and told us guys can you plz quiet??? Excuse me few other are putting loud music singing no disturb when we put very soft music they ask us to turn it off . Honestly to say it's not really good place with children front of camp time to time vechile are running no control. I will say good for couple who like peace and quiet but not good for family.
But we will say thank you to Nikki she been very helpful for other information. We won't come back. Good luck

I’m not sure what this has to do with the children ? It wasn’t the children we had to ask to turn down the car stereo that was blaring to the whole campsite (in response to complaints from other campers), and it wasn’t the children we had to later ask to turn down the radio that was loud enough to cause complaints , and it wasn’t the children making the noise in the loud family party after 11pm ( and on each of the following nights as well).

Families of 15 people making a ”bit noise when we chat and doing BBQ.” ( to quote you) is somewhat different to what your neighbours experienced and complained about .

Most of our customers have children and everyone is clearly tolerant of, even enjoys, children and their noise whilst at play - unless of course they were the ones turning up the radio to full volume ? Whilst English was clearly not your first language, we did try very hard to explain that you had to have consideration for the people camping around you, but clearly either you did not understand ( though your English seems a lot better now that you are writing a compliant) or you simply could not care less.

we booked last minute and got caravan 16 which was described as a luxury 3 bed caravan. We have only had one caravan holiday before and this far exceeded expectations. The setting is amazing, the park itself very well kept and pretty, and the caravan was spotless and very comfortable. It was very quiet and safe for our children to play, feed the guinea pigs and meet newly made friends. The mobile vans selling food are a good option when you've had a busy day and don't want to go out again. The beach was only 20 minute walk away which we loved but the restaurants there were very busy in the evening. We had a lovely quiet relaxing holiday but would perhaps not recommend for teenagers as none of us had any phone connection!
