My family and I spent a whole week in a cosy lodge, overlooking the forest . We had comfy beds. For breakfast, there is a good selection of food; from scrambled eggs on toast to a full English breakfast [with some added things to it]. At dinner, there were some lovely meals and some things were grown there. All of the ingredients that the cooks used was grown locally. Also, there was a heated outdoor swimming pool, a gym, a spa, tennis courts and some other things to do. The owners have a lot of land and if you get a tour map, there is a small walk to something called the mount. This place was really good and i wish to come again.

Room tip: Choose a room closest to the breakfast place and the dinner place so you don't have to walk as much.

"Last night I dreamt I went to Mandalay again . . . " Not quite the right Daphne du Maurier novel but closely related since she described Trelowarren as "the jewel in Cornwall's crown" when she wrote "Frenchman's Creek" there.

I haven't eaten at the New Yard Inn for nearly ten years and was really happy to return for my birthday lunch on a glorious spring day. The Trelowarren Estate of 1000 acres has been in the Vyvyan family for over 600 years and, with all the enterprising and energy-efficient changes undertaken by Sir Ferrers, the present head of the family, it has become an established part of the environmentally-aware and locally-produced food-demanding public's expectation.

The Trelowarren salad was foraged from the estate and provided an attractive and deliciously crunchy concoction; the cauliflower soup was thick and creamy and gloriously filling; the ceviche of scallops were marinated and served with dinky orange slices - you can't expect a generous helping because they are so expensive but these slipped effortlessly down my throat. Main courses covered a vivid - both in colour and taste - wild garlic risotto, creamy and healthy, and a very delicate, succulent mackerel baked in a papilotte.

The restaurant has been expanded and re-decorated since I was there last; the room is now softly divided by two linen curtains by the entrance, with tables and a couple of easy sofas beside woodburning stoves on either side. This area can be made into one room, large enough for big parties. Bold stone squares make a statement on the floor and easy-on-the-eye, under-stated charcoal paint links the wooden bar with the rest of the furnishings. It's a thoroughly restful and happy room, evidently appreciated by the wide range of ages enjoying the atmosphere and food.

I won't wait so long to return.

We have stayed at Trelowarren countless times in the last 14 years and our last stay in October was really lovely. We stayed in our usual cottage - Chyreen and it was very comfortable and extremely clean. We were provided with plenty of extra logs for the lovely log burnerbut the weather was so good we didn't have to light a fire.

The cottage had been recently updated, there was a very clever wireless speaker device for picking up music from iPhones etc - much appreciated by my daughters, We had Sunday lunch at the New Yard Restaurant and everything was perfect, it was very busy but service and the quality of the food was outstanding. We spent most of our time relatively locally - Mullion Cove, Church Cove and Kynance Cove - all within a short drive,

My daughters and the friend I brought with me enjoyed the outdoor pool - warm even though it was end October. I watched from the sidelines.

In summary one of our best stays and we look forward to our next stay. Thank you

Here there are 1000 acres in which to roam and within tha grounds are a sculpture garden, a spa complete with. heated outdoor pool, a craft centre (closed all winter) and a restaurant which is establishing itself as a centre for loxal cuisine,

There are approximately 400 acres of woodland and sheep graze placidly across the landscapes around which are beautiful in aspect. Well worth. repeated visits.

Trelowarren is a large country estate which has been sensitively established into an elegant holiday setting. It is arranged around an old country house, which has been owned by the Vyvyan family for generations, and it is the latest owner who has undertaken the extensive conversion and renovation of the grounds which are now open to to the public.
It consists of many acres of woodland and landscaped grounds, in which Eco lodges/houses and facilities have been built, each one affording plenty of privacy and space. There is a heated outdoor pool, a spa, a small gym and the well known New Yard Restaurant. In the stable yard there are also craft barns with changing exhibitions. Lodges vary from those sleeping 4 , to much larger properties. All are available on a timeshare or weekly basis and come ready prepared with beds made up, wood for the log burners, underfloor heating, and are beautifully designed and equipped. The peace and quiet, and the many bids and other wild life, are delightful. Walks commence from the estate and on Sunday and Wednesday nights there is also a wood fired pizza oven fired up, in one of the old barns, which makes extremely good pizzas!
Staff, including the owners are extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgable and nothing is too much trouble. A stay here is a special experience and the houses/loges are extremely comfortable.
