Description: The Black Star is a beautiful canal side public house recently acquired by wye valley brewery and undergone complete refurbishment to include open plan dining, log burning fires and an extensive outside paved area with seating and heating. The new pub offers great ales and great traditional pub food hosted by a very experienced couple from hereford who are Andrew and Maria Gooding, they also have two Labradors roaming around at various times who are very welcoming and they encourage other dog owners to come in and relax.

This is a family-friendly pub which offers good honest food, well-prepared and delicious. I tried two of the hand-pumped beers, and both were excellent. The vegetarian chilli was flavoursome and satisfying (with well-cooked rice), the scampi was well presented and delicious, and the chicken fillet burger contained real chicken. Thoroughly recommended.

Good beer largers and ales and food and nice staff .
The beer was nice and I enjoyed a burger .
The bar area is quite small but didn't have to wait too long to be served

Visited for a snack at lunchtime, friendly service, food was tasty and came quite quickly.
Couple of odd things, a) world cup and cricket was on when we visited but despite having a huge projector screen no sport was being shown and b) the landlord was putting up light in lounger area while we were there, surely better to do this before pub opened..very odd.
