Simply fantastic. Rooms are very nice and clean with good views, food is delicious, and the activities are fun and good for the whole family. It's truly all that you can ask for. We've been here 6 times and are definitely going to come back in the near future.

What a great time. I traveled with my 10 month old and 3 year old during memorial weekend. Let's just say there were a lot of tears when we had to leave. My kids had a great time. So much for them to do, even super early in the morning, they both wake at 6am!! We spent a lot of time at both indoor and outdoor parks, toddler play room, pools and lake. The staff were really kind, and there was plenty to do every day, even for the little ones. The food was served quickly which was good because by 6 the kids were about to pass out, and a couple times they did which was awesome for us. We actually got to eat dessert in peace while the kids slept in the stroller.

Thank you very much for your recent stay with us, and for sharing your experience with the TripAdvisor community!

We are warmed to hear that your visit seemed to be such a pleasant one! In particular, we are very glad to hear that your children had a blast- in our experience, it seems that if the kids can stay happy, parents seem to be happy as well! We offer more than 30 daily activities along with all of our pools, play areas and amenities. For the active vacationer (little ones included!), there are plenty of ways to stay busy and smiling from sunup to sundown.

We'd also like to note that if anyone is interested, we do offer babysitting services as well. That way, if the kids need an early bedtime, parents can sneak out and perhaps enjoy an evening cocktail along with our nightly entertainment.

Thank you again for your stay, and we hope to see everyone again soon!

I took an impromptu weekend trip to Woodloch with my 5 year old daughter for some quality mother / daughter time. What a GREAT decision it ended up being! I was hesitant about going to a family / group type resort with just the two of us, but it was wonderful! Even though we were a small group, we felt welcomed and included in all activities everywhere we went. Activities that required larger teams were never a problem, as everyone (guests and employees), happily welcomed us into their groups.

A special thanks to Alexandra, one of the ladies who works in the entertainment / events department. She made my daughter Charlotte feel so special and went above and beyond the call of duty.

The only time I saw a frown, and even some tears, on my daughter's face was when we were driving out of the parking lot to go home. We will definitely be back. Thank you, Woodloch, for making our weekend so special.

Lindsay K-

Thank you for your visit and for taking the time to share your experiences with the TripAdvisor community and us.

We are all happy to hear that your impromptu escape with your daughter was such a special one! Woodloch is a special place where we drop concerns of the "real world" like work and school and focus on bonding with those that we love most in this world. That sounds like exactly what you were able to achieve with your daughter over the weekend. We are glad you were able to get into the groove so quickly!

Whether you are a small group or a reunion of dozens of family members, we like to feel as if we are hosting company in our own home and treat every guest as such. While many of our marquee events typically work with teams of 10 players or more, it's always great to see smaller groups band together. Many lifelong friendships have been forged in this manner over the years, and it makes our resort all that much more special to us.

Thank you for your mention of Alix in Social- your kind words will be passed along to both she and her supervisors. Our staff is always very excited to hear when they are able to make our guests's experiences all that much more memorable!

Once again, it was our pleasure to host your "girl's weekend"- we hope that you return for more in the future and look forward to seeing you again!

Sincerely,

It was our first vacation with our toddler, who is not quite 2 years old. Our priorities are good service and quality accomodations, with enough planned activities to keep our family entertained on site.  We read the reviews and agree that the place is probably fantastic for long time customers and large groups, but it is a different experience for a small family.

Woodloch delivered on the accomodations and activities.  The dining experience was poor, and large groups and returning guests are the clear priority.

PROs: the room was great...recently remodeled, clean. We were booked for a room with 2 baths but ended up with one, still...it had a jack and Jill entrance so we were able to use the bathroom without disturbing the baby after bedtime. Living room was large with leather couches, lots of windows overlooking the lake. Bonus, we got a full kitchen, dining room, and washer dryer in the unit. The only con here was that we would have packed differently if we knew we had a washer dryer. We probably would have chosen the two meal plan instead of 3 also.

PRO also is the indoor splash zone. Two pools, very warm for littles, only 9" deep, lots of splash water features, toddler sized slides and character features, even a little pirate ship (although half of it was broken on our visit).  Baby loved it. They have swim vests and floaties too, as well as towel service. For adults there is a regular pool, nice size with a basketball hoop...The outside pool had lots of fun water features, and wasn't heated while we were there so we didn't use it.

Also, lots of playgrounds, activities, indoors and out. These are simple activities, but we enjoyed it, our little one had fun, it worked out great except for one giant problem...

CON...The meal plan. Food is decent and there is a ton of it, plenty of variety. To describe it, it's wedding food. Still ok though, salads and fruit were fresh. But the dining room is massive, and on Friday night they served over 500 people for dinner. It is the same size at every meal. Our toddler melted down like we have never seen before, and she wouldn't eat for days.  Most groups are 10+ people, as large parties are the norm here. We were able to mitigate the issue by getting takeout for each meal, but sometimes dinner was just meat and salad because they didn't pack any side dishes, dessert, etc. But it was better than nothing, and since we were paying on average$90 for each meal, it would have been annoying to have to go to town or something to find meals in a place with smaller crowds. They always say the lodge is available for meals, but it's a dingy bar that looks like an old VFW, so that isn't a great choice. The deli is a car ride away at the entrance to the facility.

Meal times are set for an hour or so window 3 times a day, menu is published in the morning, and they assign you a table. If you want to move your table, that is a bit of a hassle and we heard twice about how the other tables take priority. Apparently that doesn't apply when the returning guests arrive, as they were fine moving us for them. Also, on the last morning, the other giant tables arrived at the same time and my husband was told to wait while the server took care of them first.

Some dining staff and management were very nice, others seemed bothered that anyone would question them about anything.

Overall, it served us fine for a first vacation with baby. I suggest getting the 2 meal plan, and prepare your toddler ahead of time to eat among such a large crowd or just get takeout from the start. The other reviews note they cater to large groups and I would say that is true, but with a few tweaks a small family can have a fair getaway here. Forget the scavenger hunts and olympics, we didn't even try...those are for the large groups. We picked up meals as soon as the doors opened, ate in our room, and took advantage of the dinner/show time to have the baby splash pool entirely to ourselves.  It's a little dated here and there, but that is part of the charm - nostalgic and kitschy.

However, because of the lack of options for dining and the preference shown for large groups and returning guests, we plan to try Skytop Lodge next for the Poconos, maybe the Greenbriar or Nemacolin. We don't need all inclusive, and at about $550-600 a night all in, I don't really want to have to find workarounds to accomodate the resort and its preferred guests.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and concerns with the TripAdvisor community, ellecee72.

While we are glad to hear that you enjoyed our activities and accommodations, we are very sorry to learn that you were disappointed in your overall dining experience. Creating a vacation of great value and maintaining a longstanding tradition of excellence and warm hospitality is of the utmost importance to us. Our goal is to provide an exceptional experience for each guest, and when we fall short, it is a serious concern for our entire management staff.

In regards to the meal plans that we offer, although our dining room is very large, we are built on a foundation of catering to families and groups of all ages and sizes. In keeping with that fact, we strive to provide high-quality, family-style meals served hot and efficiently, specifically to keep all ages and group sizes happy. One of the main cornerstones of our reputation was built on the quality and service of the dining experience we offer. We will certainly further examine the service issues that you addressed.

We were disappointed to learn that you were not informed about another one of our a la carte dining options, the Grille Room at Woodloch Springs, which is a short two-mile drive down the road. The Grille Room is open throughout the day so that you do not have to worry about a certain mealtime window, and the menu offers a wide range of sandwiches, salads and upscale dinner selections as well as special children’s options.

It certainly sounds as though you were able to take advantage of a number of the activities that we offer, and we are glad to hear that you found them to be very enjoyable. Our indoor splash zone, indoor and outdoor playgrounds, and other unique amenities are very popular with our guests.

We thank you again for taking the time to share your thoughtful review with the TripAdvisor community. We appreciate our guests’ comments and use constructive criticism as a catalyst for change and improvement. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss these matters further. Please feel free to get in touch with me via phone or email at 570-685-8047 or woodmark (at) Woodloch (dot) com.

We stayed at Woodloch Pines during school days, on a Thursday to Saturday mini getaway. I want to emphasize the days to give you an idea of what to expect depending when you go. From my limited experience, it seems that the resort has a higher older population during the week, with kids showing up on the weekend. During our stay, I was told that there were something like 400 adults, and maybe 70 kids (most of which under 5 years old). We went while school was open, so understandably so there were not many kids running around. That made the rides and the pools empty and better for adults, but lonely for my 6 year old. I do have a feeling that during summer and winter vacations, this place might be hopping with kids. And now I'll tell you why. It is an all inclusive resort, which is always a plus for many people. You get to pick breakfast, lunch and dinner, or just breakfast and dinner. Listen to me and get the three meals because while the restaurant food is good, if you have to scramble around for cold food you will not find great options (we ate at the North Lodge one lunch, and it was bad). The restaurant food, included in the all inclusive, instead was much better than i was expecting. And the cakes they serve are sooo good. I bought and took home their crumb cake. Yum!
As for the grounds. This area is so nice and peaceful. A beautiful lake is the centerpiece, and they have thought of everything around it: man made beach, boats, beach chairs, kids playgrounds, lots of green... there is something for everyone. They have a few pools and the water was sparkly clean both days we went (it probably helped the fact that there were only a few other people in it with us). They also have a kids splash area. I loved the fact that even though sometimes it was only us in the pool or the play area, we always had a lifeguard around (sometimes even following us) to make sure we were safe. The room was very clean and had one of the best beds I've ever slept on a vacation! As for activities, there was plenty to do, outdoors and indoors, and they even give you a day planner at breakfast, where you see everything that will happen during the day. They have Bingo, Tennis Courts, Basketball Courts, mini golf, Karaoke nights, tons of arcardes, and even a small night club where they do nightly performances. The one we saw while there was cute enough, not a Broadway production, but cute enough. I have to note one thing about the cleanliness of the place, which was spectacular. I have used many of the restrooms in this resort, and no matter where I was, I would walk in a spotless bathroom every time. It was amazing. And I loved it. They had characters for kids show up for every meal and that was nice, too. All in all, we had a very nice time here. The only negative, if I have to find one, is the price. It can be very expensive to spend a week here, especially if you have a few kids... but if money is no object for you, this is a great, close to NYC, place to getaway for a while. I'm thinking of coming back during our Winter holidays...

Thank you very much for your thoughtful review, Elisa G! You are correct in that during midweeks when school is still in session, we do get busy with senior groups as well as corporate business. As you guessed, during times when school is out, such as winter and summer vacations, holiday breaks and weekends, there are many families with children, which is really the heart of our business. We are sorry to hear that it was a bit lonely for your child, but we are glad to know that you were able to enjoy many our activities and amenities!

It certainly sounds like you enjoyed delicious meals in our dining room as well as our homemade baked goods – the crumb cake is always a guest favorite! We are sorry to hear that you weren’t pleased with your lunch at the North Lodge. Please know that we offer a variety of a la carte dining options for every taste and palette. While the North Lodge offers more comfort and snack foods such nachos, pizza, and buffalo wings, both The Country Store and The Market feature full deli counters with made-to-order sandwiches and salads as well as homemade baked goods. At The Grille Room at The Clubhouse at Woodloch Springs, guests can dine on contemporary cuisine with views overlooking the golf course.

As you noticed, we take great pride in maintaining a pristine property and are so glad to hear that you greatly enjoyed our accommodations. We place the utmost importance on maintaining the highest in cleanliness standards and are continuously renovating and reinvesting in our property in an effort to provide the best vacation experience possible.

Thank you again for your valuable feedback, and we hope to welcome you back to Woodloch soon!
