I would give it a 4.5 because the inn is a tad dated and didn't have the best shower. My friend and I went there for a weekend getaway and had fun. We didn't stay much in the actual hotel. We could hear some traffic, but it was nice and close to the area, so can't complain about traffic noise. Complimentary breakfast was very good, everything was the right temperature and they had a nice variety. We enjoyed our stay!!

Nice and clean motel that was a step back in time to better customer service and local pride that lodging is lacking at large commercial chains. The beds are nice and comfortable and the best part was the pillows, nice big soft pillows not the usual flat lifeless hotel pillows. Will not hesitate to recommend this motel to any friends or family visiting the area and will definitely stay the next time I travel that way.

We needed a place to break up a long trip from Michigan to New York. Erie was a perfect distance & 'Glass House Inn' was an ideal stay-over. We arrived close to midnight, and our room was open and ready for us without any worry whatsoever. The following morning after coffee and a bowl of Cheerios, we were on our way...quite rested!! Great price, comfortable, and super friendly owners! Thank you...

We stayed here on the President's Day weekend in February, 2012. Really, it is more of a motel with all rooms at ground level, no interior hallways, and the building in a "C" shape surrounding the outdoor pool.

The price was affordable. After speaking to them on the phone, I was told that if I booked online through their own web site I would get a 20% discount from their rack rate, which I did. When we got there, check-in was handled efficiently, and we headed to the room.

Let's face it - the reviews are correct when they say that the decor, etc. is dated. You can see this from the old style sign out front all the way to the decor within the room. However, the room was quite clean, and the design was nice which included a sort of back hallway to the bathroom, offering some separation to the bathroom and external vanity area.

The room did show some dating and wear and tear. Examples of this include: thermostat needed to be cranked to even come close to 70 degrees, walls were thin and we could hear talking in the next room (although as a whole the hotel was quite quiet), shower changed from hot to warm frequently on its own, tube television.

The owners were friendly, and you could see that they do take pride in their establishment. The complimentary continential breakfast was very good (as continential breakfasts go) and was all we and our two kids needed in the morning.

The real question is this: given the above, would we stay there again? The answer is yes, largely because of the "nice feeling" my wife had about the hotel. I realize this is not quantifiable, but my wife said she just felt comfortable staying there. That works for me!

Just if finished our first stay at the Glass House Inn. Our daughter and her husband live in Erie. We really enjoyed our stay. The price was right, the service was personal, our room was spacious and clean. We will be back.
