It was a Saturday night in late June when my friend and I were slowly making our way back to Ohio after a week and a half of vacationing. We had planned to stay in a campground about an hour north of Conneaut Lake, but storms in the area this night would not be a good idea for tenting.
Since this was the weekend, all the cabins at the campgrounds were booked. Most of the hotel rooms in a 75 mile radius were also booked for some kind of convention in the area. I found a room at a Days Inn in Meadville, not far away from Conneaut Lake. It would be close enough to us since we were planning on visiting Conneaut Lake Park the next day. My friend did not want to pay the price of the Days Inn as it was over $100 a night, despite sharing the cost of the room. He suggested we try one of the older motels near Conneaut Lake Park. We had stayed at a couple others in years past, but this was our first and LAST time to stay here.
There was still a room available. The cost of the room was over $70. Pricey for the condition of the place. The guy checking us in was very nice. That was about the only thing that was nice. The locks on the doors did not lock properly. Other patrons kept coming...It was a Saturday night in late June when my friend and I were slowly making our way back to Ohio after a week and a half of vacationing. The locks on the doors did not lock properly. Other patrons kept coming and going all through the night, revving up their vehicle engines, waking everyone up. The foundation was slanted. The toilet leaned to the right. The pipe under the sink leaked water all over the bathroom floor. The linoleum on the floor was curled around the baseboard from the water being dumped onto it. The shower head flew off when I turned the shower on in the morning. Though I got the shower head back on the nozzle, it still shot water upwards towards the ceiling. The television only had one channel that came in, and it was all about deaths and murder. The room smelled of urine. My bed was uncomfortable to sleep in. My friend's bed was not much better. Lights were out in the lamps in the rooms. There were too many appliances plugged into the electrical outlets Fire hazard. The curtains did not want to stay together, so people passing by the room could peak in during the night. Pay the extra money and stay at a better motel.More
