“Very Relaxing and just what we needed!”
Reviewed 4 September 2011

I don't normally post reviews this soon after getting back from a trip but its still fresh in my mind and I am happy to report this was a great place to stay over the first part of Labor Day weekend. Checked in with my husband on Thursday afternoon and let them know it was our tenth wedding anniversary when I made the reservations a few weeks earlier. The woman on the phone was kind enough to add in a bottle of wine and a box of chocolate truffles for us that was waiting for us in the suite when we checked in complete with wine glasses and corkscrew. Check-in was fast and pleasant and our suite was absolutely beautiful. We had the studio suite with whirlpool and fireplace. room 308-right next to elevators but we barely heard any noise from the hallway the entire stay even though this was a Holiday weekend. We had a stunning view of the Amish Farm with fresh corn growing on the premises and a little schoolhouse where we saw little Amish kids walking to in the mornings.(See photos)
Our room was convenient with a little kitchenette and big roomy shower. The whirlpool was very spacious and a lot of fun to use. We didnt make use of the fireplace because the evenings were too warm but it looked like a nice one with a switch to turn on and off. The only reason I didn't give the hotel the 5th star is the TV in the room was very small and outdated. It had a dvd player and we did bring dvds to watch but the volume on the TV was so low we could barely hear the show playing over the a.c. in the room. Also, the king bed was comfy and pretty with a nice canopy but it was obviously old because it squeaked pretty loudly while we slept at night. so my only suggestion to this wonderful establishment is they get more updated beds and larger flat screen tv sets with speaker sound.
A yummy breakfast was included in the room price each morning and they served anything you could possibly want. made to order waffles and omelettes. cereals, breads, sausage, bacon, potatoes and quiche. They also served coffee and juices as well as a fantastic cappuccino/hot chocolate machine. By the way the cappuccino, hot chocolate and coffees are available 24 hours per day! we definitely took advantage of that especially at night after a long day out shopping, it was nice to sit on the couch in the Great Room and relax with a cup of coffee or cappuccino and play a board game or watch TV. they even had fresh baked m&m cookies out every afternoon as well.
We plan on returning to this hotel again, probably in the Winter with our 8 year old. There were a lot of families there with kids but yet we also felt like it was a nice couples only trip for us too.

Room Tip: Ask for room with a Farm View...

To borrow a line from " Field of Dreams" this was certainly a little slice of heaven. Clean, comfortable, spacious, relaxing and any number of other adjectives you can come up with. desk staff pleasant and awlays with a smile to greet you as you pass by whether early in the morning or late at night. Coffee in the lobby 24/7. Rooms clean and quiet as most seem to look out the back at the Amish farms not at the street. Was different to watch it get dark and stay dark as the Amish do not use electricity. Could see the stars with little light pollution. Breakfast was a selection of hot and cold foods with eggs made to order as well as omlettes and waffles. Bacon, sausage, home fries etc are not your standard free breakfast fare. We stayed at the Fulton Steamboat last year and although we enjoyed it there the Amish View will likely be our hotel of choice in PA Dutch country from now on.

If you are planning a get away for a special occasion or just need a quiet get away then this is the definite place to go. All the people who work there make you feel so "Welcome". The rooms are comfortable, clean and cozy. They give you a wonderful breakfast which includes omelets, eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles and so much more.We just love staying there when we have the chance to get away. You have so much that you can do right on the property. There is the Plain and Fancy Restaraunt which has great family style eating and of course they do have ala cart also. A theater that shows you a story on The Amish Experience, tours that leave from there. We took The Witness Tour which was absolutely wonderful. The guide we had (John) was very knowledgable. That is a must go on, they run that tour until October. Then down the pathway you have the Amish horse and buggy ride. There is so much to do there that you need not go elsewhere.

Room Tip: Room 226 is a great room I loved looking out the window seeing the horses that were right next door.

We booked the night before and weren't sure what it would be like. We really liked the location which was quiet and you are surrounded by corn fields and the Amish buggies. Rooms are clean and very comfortable--you don't feel like you are in a hotel. Breakfast is hit with omelettes and waffles made to order plus other goodies--be sure to try the iced raisin bread! Next door is a buffet place and all their baked goods are made by Miller's who after sampling many shoot-fly pies over the years still make the best. Rooms with a view of of the fields are smaller--go for the non view and get a much bigger room. Would highly recommend this proper. Oh and the pool area is decent as well.
