“A Wonderful Weekend”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2012

Also stayed the weekend on the Groupon deal and was so impressed with everything about this resort. The resort definitely reads upscale but still maintains a relaxed, comfortable feel. Each staff person we encountered over the weekend greeted us personally and was very knowledgable about the resort to the point where they could answer any possible question we had.

Our room was in the older section of the hotel and so impressive. I wanted to steal the bathroom and transplant it into my house! Everything was lovely and the personal touches in the room we well noted. Also, the bed is heavenly. Be prepared to not want to get up in the morning! Enjoyed sitting out on the rocking chairs on the porch.

If you like history, you'll love this place because they obviously worked hard to make sure the old Bedford Springs resort lives on. There's guestbooks displaying various presidential stays, photographs, proclamations from Queen Victoria hanging on the walls throughout the hotel. I definitely spent a good amount of time wandering through the lobby and library and looking at everything.

We had some family activities to attend to so we didn't get to do as much as we wanted at the resort. The 1776 Tavern is a great place for a late night bite and beer. Enjoyed the live music on a Friday night. Went hiking on the trails around the resort and played some tennis on the lovely resort court. It was like playing on top of a mountain! On Sunday, we enjoyed the golf practice facility which was only $15/person unlimited balls all day. We basically had the entire facility to ourselves and spent 2.5 hours there--great deal!

Staying here was such a treat! I expected it to be similar to The Homestead in Warm Springs, VA but the Omni Bedford Springs blew that place away! Highly recommend--we'll be back to do all the things we missed out on this trip.

I recently stayed at the Omni Bedford Springs though a deal obtained from Groupon. When we first arrived at the resort, I must admit I admired the sprawling landscape and the way I was greeted by the valet. However, after the first couple of hours, I quickly realized that everything was very overpriced and I felt that because we were "groupon customers" we were not treated as equally at the other guests. WIth our package we were suppose to receive an upgrade to a room with a balcony, instead our room was on the ground floor facing a brick wall. Yes, the room was adequate and clean, but it would have been nice not to hear the staff all evening pushing carts on the walkway outside our window. We could not even keep the curtains open because the staff could see right into our room. NO PRIVACY!! As far as the spa treatments, again very overpriced. I received a facial one day and a hot stone massage the next. They were adequate, but for much less money I could have gotten the same treatments at home. In fact the massages I have gotten at home were much better. This weekend was suppose to be a special time for myself and my sister. We have worked hard and saved our money and we were looking forward to this weekend for months. Well, I must say that I came home greatly disappointed. I very much enjoyed the time I spent with my sister, but we would have been better off if we had chosen a different place to get away and relax. My advise, look elsewhere if you want a nice, quiet and relaxing weekend!!

Every time we would ride past this resort on the PA turnpike, we would say that we must go there some time. A Groupon deal of 2 nights for the price of one was the perfect opportunity. The resort is lovely but not stuffy. Everyone, from the parking attendants to the servers in the 1796 tavern, were friendly and helpful. When we checked in, we asked not to be near the fire pit, as we read a review that said it was a noisy area at night. We were pleased to be upgraded to a room in the spa wing that opened onto the shared veranda, complete with rocking chairs. Very relaxing. We swam in the indoor pool and enjoyed the breakfast buffet one morning in the Crystal dining room. We walked the trails across from the resort - there were even walking sticks in the closet to help on uneven paths. Being history buffs, we enjoyed the Fort Bedford museum, and the shops in downtown Bedford are charming. We will go back to Bedford Springs Resort.

Room Tip: Rooms that open up onto the shared veranda provide a lovely view of the woods across the road from t...

After visiting the Bedford Springs Resort last year on our way to Pittsburgh, we decided to try it again, and we weren't disappointed. We arrived early for a round of golf before checking in, but they were happy to store our luggage and perishables so they wouldn't be sitting in a car in the 90 degree heat. After golf, check in was a breeze and our luggage had been delivered to our room. Sitting on the balcony overlooking the front gardens and gazebo was so restful, but it was hot and we decided to hit the pool. What a treat! The pool has a long ledge where you can sit and enjoy your beverage, or read a book. There were plenty of lounge chairs available and the whole landscaping around the pool was beautiful. There is a pool menu of both drinks and food if you wanted either.

The first night we ate in the Crystal Room. The service was excellent and the venison I had was deliciously prepared. My husband's lamb chops were good, but not the best he's had. The second night we ate at 1776 steak house and we both had excellent meals. Again the service was wonderful.

Our best experience was with the golf shop. They were closing the course to punch the greens, and we were on the unlimited golf package, so Ron, the pro, made arrangements for us to play another course in the area, and even recommended a side trip to visit the Flight 93 Memorial which we very much enjoyed. The golf staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

My only complaint about Bedford Springs was that the air conditioning vent was situated so that it blew directly onto the bed which was somewhat uncomfortable. But the beds....ahhhh, pure comfort!

Can't wait to make another visit!

Room Tip: We really enjoyed the room with the porch and rocking chairs. We were in the historical section whic...

A friend and I visited Bedford Springs on a Thursday night. The place is beautiful...well-appointed with lots of history about the original hotel and its various restorations. Our room (2 queen beds) was large enough, and was CLEAN, as was the bathroom. We did two Spa treatments, one Thursday afternoon and one Friday morning, and both were fantastic! The pedicure was restful, un-rushed and delightful. The Eternal Glow Indulgence was nothing short of perfect! It is advertised as a facial and a back treatment, but to our surprise and delight, it included foot and hand massages as well. My aesthetician, Anna, was charming, asked appropriate questions, and had just the right touch. Again, it was not rushed and was so relaxing. The addition of the Baths ritual available before any spa treatment, and the comfortable and roomy Relaxation Room made this treatment an excellent value! What impressed us most about Bedford Springs was that every single employee was pleasant and welcoming, greeting you whether you are coming through the front door or passing in a hallway. Although this would be considered a "fancy" resort by most, it is unpretentious and comfortable. The food was good and although a little on the high side price-wise, not out of line. The only negative I can come up with is one I have read in other reviews: the common areas tend to be over air conditioned. So bring a sweater or sit by one of the lovely fireplaces! We will definitely return!

We are thrilled that you and your friend had a great experience in our spa and at the resort. As you mentioned, there have been some comments regarding the air conditioning and we are working to make sure that we have the common areas kept at a temperature that can be comfortable for most. It was a pleasure to read your review and we hope for a future opportunity to have you as our guest.
