A lovely place to stay. Lots of nice touches. We felt spoiled. Cynthia, the desk lady, was caring and hospitable. The town of Wheeler was pretty cute. A couple of good bakeries and I loved the art deco lighting at Wheeler Antiques down the street. Very close to Manzanita, where we also spent some time. We'll be back!

A great find on our trip down the Oregon Coast. Wheeler itself is a sleepy town with plenty of antique shops but the real attraction is the old Wheeler Hotel. The host was very friendly and informative as she showed us around our rooms (we had room 6 which has a separate but private bathroom down the corridor) and the shared rooms including the music room and the dining room. The dining room has everything you need for eating in including a great table and sofas overlooking the river. The host pointed out some elk and we spent an enjoyable evening playing board games, chatting to other guests, watching the sunset and the elk out of the oversized windows. Everything you could possible need has been thought about including plenty of binoculars for the guests. A continental breakfast is included which makes the hotel great value. There is also a computer for the guests to use but there is also free wifi too. As we were leaving, we popped our heads into the other rooms. One room had a hot tub in the room looking out towards the river. You would get great sunsets from this room. It would be worth paying the extra. The only downside was that room 6 was small (probably the smallest room we have stayed in) with hardly any room for a suitcase.

We are a couple who stayed in this hotel for memorial day weekend. It was lovely. The people were sweet and kind and professional. The room and bathroom was very clean. The breakfast was continental - but, well stocked and we had no issues. The view from the room was perfect, on the Bay, and it was quiet even though it was on the 101. They have done a good job soundproofing the rooms with double paned windows and a very quiet air conditioner. We could hear people just on the other side of the wall (bathroom use or doors closing) - but it wasn't bothersome. I especially recommend this area to get out of the craziness of Cannon Beach or other more touristy towns.

Room tip: We stayed in room 3 - which had the bathroom down the hall. We didn't have any issues with this - though others may not like it. It was a cheaper room. If you have to go to the bathroom a lot - I would recommend a different room.

My wife and I stayed at the Old Wheeler hotel for 2 nights. We had a coupon from Living Social. It was a delightful stay. It's an old hotel, dating back to 1920 and restored by the current owner in the past few years. It is extremely comfortable, has a wonderful view of Nehalem Bay (with a large herd of elks that can be viewed through 2 sets of binoculars thoughtfully provided by the hotel) and the staff are very informative and friendly. The furnishings are almost all antiques and, unlike other B&Bs and hotels we've stayed at, everything fits in; one doesn't get the impression that they are just plopped in for show. It's only 4 miles north to Manzanita, a larger town with some good restaurants and a short distance further north to Cannon Beach. The bed was superb with what must be a fairly new mattress and the room was very quiet, with double pane of glass.

Room tip: Rooms facing the west have a great view of the bay and is quite lovely.
