“Spacious but not the cleanest”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 October 2011

An adequate accommodation for a cheap price. The staff were very welcoming when I arrived, explaining all the closeny areas/attractions and showing me through the hostel to my dorm. I was in the separate, second building which had an unpleasant odour of fish the whole 5 days I was there for! I stayed in an 8-bed dorm which was very spacious and semi separated into 3 rooms - a great layout! One bathroom for all 8 of us to share in which the shower curtains looked to be mouldy! There in another bathroom out in the corridor which was cleaner. The building and facilities are old, but sufficient, so long as they are kept clean!
The complimentary breakfast was just a loaf of bread with some spreads, which was usually running out BUT there is an amazing coffee shop right across the road!
I very rarely managed to get the wifi working in my dorm but it was usually fine in the main shared areas of building 1.

Overall...Pros: staff friendly and helpful, dorm rooms spacious, good location. Cons: questionable cleanliness, unpredictable wifi access.

I'd recommend the place as somewhere to sleep but the mouldy curtains and fishy smell will stay with me for a while!!

At 95$ a night (for two people), I found that it was slightly overpriced for what we got. Service was excellent, Internet was working OK, some free bread in the morning, but coffee was 1.50$. Overall, excellent place, but I think I would have prefer staying at a motel (slightly cheaper) than having a private room in this hostel.

This guesthouse has the price of an B&B but it is not a B&B. (At $90/Night for two).
In a separate building from the Hostel but uses the same reception area, the room was large but very little furniture and no TV, sink, shower or toilet also no soap or shampoo but clean towels. Bathroom right outside and shower a few steps further no problem getting into it. There was a community kitchen and living room so I guess if you are a large group it's a place to gather around. For breakfast you can go to the hostel side or make your own There is bread with butter and jam and coffee for sale.

I am more of a small town guy and small town hostel guy but this hostel is good for a city hostel. It is good because the location is not hard to get to after taking the train and getting off the plane at the airport. It is also good because the city location seemed good and it was clean and had good grounds. You should check out their little drinking garden. The one negative is that because it is in a city the crowd is younger and that means they go out to the bars. So many of the guests in the dorm room will arrive to sleep after 2 AM. Not a big deal because when you book a city hostel you should already know this. In conclusion I would stay in this city hostel again and I would recommend it!

The hostel is located in a lovely old town house. We stayed in the hostel for one night, and enjoyed our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and gave us some good recommendations and directions. Our two rooms were clean and spacious, and the free wi-fi worked with no problems.

The room was quite hot as there was only one small window which didn't open fully. There was also only one bathroom on our floor, which was often engaged, so we had to go looking for alternative toilets/showers. The hostel has limited parking so we had to find a place to park on the street, which was no problem.

Generally, I would recommend staying here. The hostel is in a great location- it's a short walk to some really good bars, and doesn't take long to walk in to town.
