Description: Screen Door presents a revival of regional American cuisine, a survey of the south, from South Carolina Lowcountry cuisine to soul food and Cajun one-pot cookery to the refined Creole and French preparations found in New Orleans. We celebrate Southern cuisine from the quintessential hearty fare to the everyday foods gathered fresh from the garden. At Screen Door we serve natural, local and organic produce and meats everyday. Central to our concept is weaving the rich bounty of local fresh produce found here in the Pacific Northwest into our menu.

My son took me to breakfast at this Portland landmark. We got there at 800 AM on a Friday and had no wait. When we were leaving there was a good sized wait. I am told for weekend brunch, it is a much longer wait. We sat near the kitchen so we were well aware how enormous the breakfast plates were. I was hungry and I went with the Shrimp and Cheddar grits. I have never seen this for breakfast so I had to go for it. It was a pile of food - four jumbo shrimp in a good sized bowl of cheesy grits, a big biscuit, and 2 eggs. And best of all it was really good. My son ordered the biscuits with gravy and had the veggie gravy option. He also had 2 eggs. It was a great way to start the day. I would have liked to have come back to this place for dinner, but that will have to be on a future trip. Be sure to check this place out.

We eat here every time we come to Portland delicious every time, worth the hour to hour and a half wait. Great Southern Soul comfort food, the shrimp and grits are the best.

This place is always crowded with a line out the door. The best time to go is on weekday before 10am, then you have a better chance of getting seated without waiting. The wait is so worth it though since everything is delicious!! They have the best Chicken and Waffles and the portion is huge. The grits is smooth and creamy and the biscuit is hot and fluffy. The price is really reasonable for the portion size and good food. Highly recommended.

Okay. Seriously where has this restaurant been all my life. If I wasn't in public I could have cried at how good the food was. Honestly the huevos rancheros were so good.. It was like nothing I've ever had before.

My bf got chicken and waffles. Both were equally as good. He couldn't stop raving about the bacon (I don't eat pork) we can't wait to go back tomorrow.

Anthony was a great server. The place was packed and yet we never felt rushed with him.

Bloody Mary's here are great. They make their own tomato juice so it's not thick and gross like some places.

Don't miss this place.. Worth every minute of the wait.
