“What a treat!”

This vacation rental exceeded our expectations which were based on photos and information on the website. Jim and Betsie were both very friendly and helpful even providing a recycle bin when asked The rental is extremely spacious, very comfortable and stylishly decorated. They have added many personal touches which made us feel right at home. We thoroughly enjoyed the quiet, country setting with beautiful gardens and flowers. It was a great place to use as home base for 10 days while we visited family and friends in the Portland area. We will be back!!

“Lovely Peaceful Getaway Retreat!”

This retreat offered the peace and quiet we had been looking for. One could relax and just soak in the quiet, like a nice warm bath, it was soothing and comforting. The spacious layout offered different places to relax. They also provide a real comfy reading chair. Jim and Betsie were very thoughtful hosts. I was impressed with how nice the amenities were. Everything was just right. They offer many extras here that we didn't expect, so that was a nice surprise. I loved their fluffy blankets, perfect for cuddling and keeping warm. We felt at home here and what you see in the photos is the way the cottage looks. There are two doors that adjoin the cottage with the main house, but they remain locked, just like in a hotel room. This retreat is perfect for those who get around in wheelchairs, with wide entryways and a wide shower. The retreat was built to be wheelchair accessible. Portland has a lot to offer. There is such a variety of things to do. While you are out there try the Tin Shed Garden Cafe on NE Alberta St (breakfast/brunch). On the same street down a ways is the Petite Provence (Paris style cafe) which we found so charming. They have scrumptious croissants with fresh raspberry preserves plus a whole lot more. The Cup and Saucer Cafe was also incredibly delicious for breakfast and it tasted very fresh. If you are looking for freshly made hot doughnuts, fresh breakfast sandwiches, and pastries in a Victorian home setting, surrounded by shelves of books, try The Rocking Frog Cafe in Buckman. For fresh Thai food try Kala Noodle. It is across the street from The Rocking Frog Cafe. For upscale Peruvian tapas and entrees try Andina ($$$). They have excellent Pisco Sours. Happy hour starts at 4pm. The Cacao drinkchocolate has scrumptious drinking chocolate and rich hot cocoa. Get a flight to sample the different flavors. They are located in downtown Portland. People are extremely polite on the roads and considerate. We'll miss that. Have a great time!

The Traveler's Retreat is just that. Beautiful setting, privacy and Jim and Betsie have thought ahead to provide all you need for a pleasant stay and if you do come across a need they are right there to fulfill it. For us, the Wheelchair accessibility (roll in shower, grab bars, wide door openings)in such a beautiful affordable place was a treasure find! Their posted photos are totally accurate. Terrific retreat!
