We loved staying in the Pearl District. The location was perfect for either walking, or a short Uber ride. The accommodations were extremely comfortable and clean, much better than staying at a hotel. Two favorite Italian restaurants were Via Delizia and Piazza Italia. Deschutes Brewery and Bridgeport Brewing Company were both great. Salt and Straw for amazing ice cream. Took a tour of the Columbia River Gorge and drove up the coast one day to Cannon Beach. We have family that just moved to the area, so we will be back and will definitely recommend to friends and family. p.s. having coffee available for the next morning was a nice touch :) And, Safeway is a short walk away if you want any groceries.
Our visit at a Stay Alfred was very enjoyable. We rented a one bedroom at Block 17 in the Pearl District. The one bedroom apartment was a good size and let me stress it was very clean. The kitchen was also well stocked for cooking. The location was great and we felt very comfortable going out at all times of the day.
We had no idea what we were getting into with this kind of rental. What it ends up being is that this is a very new, hip apartment complex in the Pearl District very close to downtown. It's a handful of blocks to bars, pubs, restaurants, parks, Chinese Garden, etc. Light rail/streetcars are available as well as busses and some bikes for rent. A great building with a fun game room downstairs, nice patio to sit on and great little park aside. It's not right in the middle of the night life which makes it nice to be a bit quieter at night. Safeway grocery store is a 5 minute walk along with some breakfast spots. Really nice to have your own apartment, washer/dryer, kitchen, etc. View is cool, place was spotless and very much how we keep our own home (didn't smell, seem like we were staying at an airBnB, etc.)
Checking in was awesome (albeit a bit confusing the first time) and not having to deal with a line, a front-desk person, etc. was a treat. Freezer had an ice maker, all the soaps were provided for dishwasher, washing machine, sink, etc. Plates, cups, utensils, everything needed to cook food, making full meals or just small items the same. Two TV's, a comfy bed, nice couch... all you would want. Clean, fresh linens and towels, hair dryer, I could go on. Really, if you want a weekend getaway, a business place to stay for a while, etc and don't want a standard hotel but more of an "at home" experience this is the way to go. Most of the building seems like it is permanent residents. No parking in the garage, which is my one gripe, it should be included.. but you can manage with street parking and local garages.
The condo itself was beautiful, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The Stay Alfred staff has been really great to work with, incredibly nice and helpful. The only thing that sucked was having to pay so much for parking and to have to make sure to get up to pay the meter before 8:00 am. Utilized the phone app which helped but still added a significant cost to the trip. Will definitely use Stay Alfred again!
