We stayed here one night while driving up the coast. Front desk was very friendly, and when I mentioned how exhausted we checking in were she moved our room to the end of hallway away from guests with children and elevator without me asking. Breakfast is pretty decent, with hot and cold items and good coffee. Room was comfortable and clean. Also, the a/c was much quiter than most hotels rooms. Only drawback is that its on the south side of bridge to the city so we could not walk to a restaurant for dinner, we had to drive but it's short distance to the main restaurants with water view.

Hi MissPeony! Thank you for staying with us at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites in Newport, Oregon! We are happy to hear that you found your stay to be decent and cookies to be quite good! We do apologize if the hot tub was uncomfortable but we would like to reassure you that we do have a salt-water based system versus the typical chlorine based system that is found in most hotels. Regardless of this I did bring this to the attention of our Chief of Maintenance so there won't be any issues in the future with this! We hope that if ever in Newport again, we hope that you give us another chance to give you a better stay than your last! Have a great day and we look forward to seeing you again in the near future!

We just returned home from a quick trip to the Oregon coast. While making a last-minute booking, the rating on this hotel was very good, so we went for it. Realizing it is "high" season before school returns in Oregon, we accepted the cost. This should be no more than a $120-$140/night hotel-period. We paid $314. We travel often, and stay at low-budget and high-budget places, depending on the cirucumstances. This stay had a few things that came up- the mattress was worn out so when I was going to sleep, I was rolling downhill into my husband. It was funny at first, then just annoying. There is a thermostat on the wall, which after trying to figure out how to work it for a while, we realized was deactivated- how about putting a sign on it, or removing altogether? The controls on the a/c were on the wall unit, but they made it really cold, or else we turned it off and were sweating. The elevator was broken upon our return from the beach, but I don't mind walking up the stairs - just took a few trips to get our things up to the room. The lighting felt too dim in the room, which always bugs me - I feel like it hides things. The bathroom fan was completely ineffective. The positives: The room was clean, the sheets were crisp, the staff was friendly.

Hello dovehollow! Thank you for choosing our hotel for your hospitality needs while in Newport. We do apologize for the issues you experienced during your stay with us. We have reported the bed issue as well as the a/c unit issue to our maintenance department to see to it that the mattress is evaluated and also the a/c unit to avoid any future discomfort for our guests. Our prices are relatively high due to our peak season of summer. For our rates that are closer to the $120-$140 price range, we definitely recommend coming back for a visit to Newport anywhere from late fall to early spring to experience a much more peaceful and less pricey version of Newport! On a happier note, we are glad to hear that you found our accommodations to be clean, sheets crisp, and our staff to be very friendly during your stay with us! We definitely hope that despite the issues you encountered during your stay, that you give us another go in the future to top your last visit with us! Have a great day and we hope to see you again soon!

Made a last minute trip to the Oregon coast. Reservations were easy. Checking in was easy. Ladies at the front desk were polite, friendly and professional. The elevator is incredibly slow. Take the stairs if you can.

The room was good sized and appeared to have clean linens. A large area near the back side of the toilet appeared to have gotten missed. It looked like someone had gotten sick or had diarrhea and gotten some down the back of the toilet area. I cleaned it up rather than gross out my family and switch rooms. There was also a bottle cap on the floor and some pieces of candy on the floor. So, the room wasn’t clean enough. Needs improvement.

The location of the hotel is kitty corner to the Oregon Coast Aquarium, so there are a lot of families that were staying there. Our stay was relatively expensive (it averaged about $286 per night for 3 days). Given that it isn’t a four or five star place and our room wasn’t cleaned well, I’d say you’re paying for being close to the aquarium.

The breakfast included in the morning was pretty good and again the staff were polite and efficient. My son’s favorite part is their pancake machine.

Overall, plus are the staff and the location.
Minus, our room needed to be cleaner and it was overpriced.

Hi there ESS_lover! Thank you for choosing our hotel for your lodging needs while in Newport! We are very apologetic about the cleanliness issues you had with your room. We have passed your comments and concerns onto our housekeeping department to ensure this is not an issue again in the future. We are happy to know that your son enjoyed our pancake machine as is definitely is an IHG Holiday Inn Express signature versus the typical waffle makers! We absolutely hope that despite the problems you experienced, you will be able to give us another shot in the future to give you the true Express stay you deserve.

I hope you have a wonderful day and we hope to see you again soon!

Not a bad place to stay. Our check in wasn't that great. We had to wait to get helped even though someone was standing there not doing anything. The main parking lot is small so we had to park in the back of the hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good.
