“A great stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 June 2012

We had stayed in brookings the night before and needed a nice hotel to make up for it. We found a discount coupon in a tourist magazine and walked into the Elizabeth Inn. They treated us as if we had paid full price and gave us a great room, with balcony over the ocean, working fireplace (stayed warm all night long), 2 large queen beds and great facilities. The room was clean, spacious and well appointed. The complimentary breakfast had hot & cold items in a lovely dining room on the 3rd floor. An added bonuis for those with a sweet tooth - they serve fresh baked cookies each night at 8pm so you can have one with your glass of wine while you watch the sunset from your balcony. We'd stay again!

We have been staying at competitor hotels in Newport for years, and having heard favorable comments about the Elizabeth Street Inn on many occasions, decided to give it a try. We were well rewarded for our decision. Our room was large and cozy with beautiful views of the beach and Yaquina Head Lighthouse. We reserved a north view king room, and stayed on the 5th (top) floor. As stated above, the views were fantastic, both from the interior and the spacious balcony. The room was equipped with a gas fireplace that warmed the room nicely during the evenings. A hot self serve breakfast was included in the room price, and was very good with some variation in the menu each day. In addition, salmon chowder is served each afternoon, and at 8pm hot cookies appear in the lobby. After a two night stay, we have nothing negative to say. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and this is simply a great place to stay on one of the Oregon coasts nicest beaches.

Dear Mr. Johnson,

Thank you for giving us a try! We love to convert guests to our property. The North view rooms are the most requested of all the options we have, and my favorite as well, so I can understand why you enjoyed it so much. It is always a good idea to book several weeks in advance when requesting the North view rooms as they book up early.

Just a reminder that our smoked salmon chowder will be available again after Labor Day. However, the cookies are available every evening regardless of the season.

Hope to see you again soon!

We really enjoyed our night at this lovely hotel. Despite having a cheap scate discount voucher that I had found in a booklet the friendly helpful staff treated us like anyone else, gave us a lovely room with fireplace, 2 queen beds, balcony with amazing view of the sea. We used the gym, which was small but fine, and the pool and spa, all adequate. I would definitely stay here again. And if you can find the discount book it's an absolute steal!

Room Tip: All rooms have sea view so no worries on this one!

Those "cheap scate discount vouchers" come in handy, don't they? All of us can use a break once in awhile, so we are pleased that you could take advantage of the coupon. Hopefully you will have an opportunity to visit us again in the near future, coupon or not, we would love to have you.

We did a lot of research on where to stay in Newport, and decided on Elizabeth Street Inn. A great decision. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was huge, clean, comfortable, and the bed was firm with great pillows. We reserved a Northview room, and specifically asked for a corner room on the upper floors, based on other Tripadvisor comments. We did get the corner room on the 4th floor, and the views were fantastic, with a balcony. The room also had a fireplace. We used the fireplace, the hotel pool, spa and workout room. Everything worked and in great condition. Breakfast was very good, always had some hot foods. Afternoons they served salmon chowder and at 8pm hot cookies! Now for the negative -- the elevator. The hotel has only one elevator and it is s..l..o..w. We had to wait up to 4 or 5 minutes at times. We used the stairs when we could but needed to use the elevator when we had our luggage or ice chest. So if you can look past the elevator, this is a great place to base yourself for exploring the mid-Oregon coast.

Room Tip: Northview, and ask specifically for a corner room on upper floors. Best room is the corner room on...

This hotel came highly recommended and couldn't wait for the weekend that had been planned for months. What a disappointment. Old, tired hotel. It must live just on reputation from the past. Elevator was first impression with bad smell, chipped tile, dirt. Room had beautiful view but smelled of natural gas from fireplace. Spa didn't work and had to get maintenance in to get it going. Lights can't be turned on to read on the balcony at night. Overall an overpriced, over rated old establishment that has gone to the dogs over the years. I kept looking next door at the nice hotel and wondering "why didn't I stay there?"

We always recognize that our guests have lots of options when they choose a hotel, and greatly appreciate it when they decide to stay with us. We were very disappointed that you did not enjoy your stay and apologize for any issues you may have encoutnered.
I see that you were here in October of last year, and I am pleased to update you on several things. During the Spring, Fall and Winter of 2011 and early 2012, we did many upgrades to the hotel. We installed new flat screen TV's, refinished decks, put in all new sliding doors, replaced carpet in many rooms, redid the tile in the elevator with a nice compass scenario, and just in the last couple of days have upgraded all of the king rooms with new linens (the double queens will be redone very soon as well). Our owners are committed to seeing that we have the nicest, up to date hotel in Newport so they are constantly looking at ways to make things better.
We hope you will try us again in the near future and trust you will have a better experience.

Best regards,

Lela
