We went to this unusual museum after a wine tasting in the Willamette Valley (great wines). Instead of driving directly south from Portland we followed our concierge's advice to detour in this direction. The Spruce Goose is beyond your expectations. It is the highlight of the museum. There are loads of World War ll aircraft. Many interesting to see next to the Spruce Goose. A B-17 bomber fit under one wing! Highly recommend.

We stopped on our way from the Portland Airport to Eugene. We came to see the Spruce Goose but were surprised to see the many other planes on site. I really think the entry cost was a little pricey at $27 per person so we didn't go through the whole museum but took lots of pics of the grounds and what we could see of the Goose inside. We didn't have enough time to tour the whole place. I wish they would've had a half price deal to just tour the Spruce Goose. That's the main reason we came. Next time for sure!

There are two main buildings, one with airplanes of all ages and one with early space travel information. All the exhibits were very good and well explained. military veterans were on hand for storytelling and explanations. Third building has a movie theater with IMAX type movies. My only complaint is that there were several activities that require extra fees.

We were at the museum for about 3 1/2 hours, we loved every minute of it, and we didn't see everything - we ran out of time. My favourite was probably the DC-3, which you can go in; and, of course, the Spruce Goose has to be seen to be believed. There is a careful attention to detail in the whole place that brought the experience up a notch. Go here. You won't be disappointed.

I am interested in things aeronautical, but not a 'fanatic', and my wife was interested enough to visit but expecting that a couple of hours would do it. We planned to join thr free tour that on this occasion was at 11am as we normally do when one is available. It certainly was worthwhile and a good oveview by a knowledgeable air force veteran. Anyhow .... we spent the better part of the day just visiting the Spruce Goose Pavillion ... not even getting to space pavillion. That is a recommendation in itself.

The campus is huge in three buildings not including a fabulous indoor waterpark, and with many outdoor exhibits. The visit for the Spruce Goose alone was worth it but the other displays with their information was totally absorbing. Your choice of movie included in the price enriched the experience. We were totally surprised at the quality of the food provided by the cafe.

We need to return to finish our visit.

I think the pricing structure needs to be more clearly explained up front re the visit to the flight deck of the Goose. Perhaps offering that option on entry.
