I've wanted to see the Spruce Goose since reading a Howard Hughes biography in the 1970s and finally saw it. Just incredible! Enjoyed the video presentation as well. I would have liked to have seen the cockpit but didn't feel like forking over another $25 to do so. A great selection of aircraft and beautiful museum. Also enjoyed the movie presentations; we saw Fighter Pilot which was really good. Didn't visit the space museum as my friend wasn't interested in it so I had to pass on it as well. There's also a nice little cafe and of course the requisite gift shop. We were on a two week Oregon road trip and McMinneville was on the itinerary especially for this museum. Very worthwhile.

This great museum is not far from Portland (though don't listen to their suggestion that it is only 45 minutes from Portland, in actuality it's at least over an hour from most locations, and it took us 1:30 on a weirdly traffic filled weekday midmorning), and I'm now mad at myself that we didn't visit it sooner. We had family in town and thought this would be a great way to spend a rainy day (also helped that our Oregon Zoo membership gave us free admission to Evergreen for the month of October!).

The buildings are gorgeous and impressive, and the extensive collection of air and space vehicles is incredible. Of course the Spruce Goose towers over everything, and was one of the major reasons were interested in going, but there are so many other planes to see, both quirky hobby planes and military. The descriptions were very informative and the museum was very education for all ages of our group. It would have been great to do a guided tour, but we didn't want to risk the attention span of our three year old. Instead the kid's section was tons of fun for our daughter, and she enjoyed riding the biplanes in the Space building of the museum.
I'm disappointed we didn't get to watch a movie in the theater (included with some admissions), but we had a great time and easily could have spent more than the three hours we did.

Also would love to go back and visit the water park next door, which all my coworkers chastised me for not going to.

All in all you should make Evergreen a destination on your trip in Western Oregon, it's worth the time, and you're surrounded by tons of options for wine tasting.

Amazing selection of aircraft from Howard Hughes Spruce Goose to a SR-71 that flew at Mach 3.2 at 80,000 feet!

Definitely worth a visit, an astounding place and home of the famous Spruce Goose, which is so large if it was parked sideways on a football field the wings would stick out 10' beyond each goalpost! I didn't know this largest plane ever flew for only a mile after costing millions of $!
Also lots of other planes including the SR-71 Blackbird, a lunar rover, minuteman missile, replica of the first tiny Sputnik, etc. we watched the hurricane 3D movie.
Lots of knowledgeable docents around and husband and his 3 buddies all did the cockpit tour although it was under some renovation.
Price break for military and veterans, clean and well maintained buildings. Highly recommended!

It appears the Evergreen properties have been sold, but this was my first visit to the Water Park that is part of this extraordinary Aviation-themed complex. The water park is exceptionally well done, with items for basically all ages. There are wave pools, relaxing pools, at least four large water "chute" rides, gift shop, and restaurant. There is even a meeting space - called MIT (Michael's Institute of Technology - for business get-togethers. The entire operation is very well run. Life-guards everywhere, frequently rotating, and conducted at least two very realistic drills while we were there. Not cheap, but there may be coupons, Groupons, etc. Easily a full day and younger children through teens will love it. The large water chute or slide rides originate inside an actual Boeing 747 on the building's roof. If you don't go inside museums to see the planes - if you are just there for the water park - take some time to drive around the perimeter and see the planes outside on display. Quite a remarkable collection!
