Just experienced our first stay at the Edgecliff. We stayed in a corner room on the top floor, in a standard king suite (balcony, gas fireplace NOT a jacuzzi suite).

It's not the Ritz, but it has a really nice view, you can see the ocean clearly and you can hear the waves crashing, all of which fit our major criteria for a good oceanview hotel. We saw some stunning sunsets, and the gas fireplace was a nice touch.

No major complaints. The beds aren't overly comfortable, and if we stay again I'm bringing my own pillow. The rooms were very clean, the view was as good as promised, and we didn't feel "gypped" in any way, the way you do sometimes when trying out a new hotel.

Another plus, the hotel is RIGHT off Highway 101, so it's really easy to get places!

I've read past complaints here on tripadvisor...the ones about bugs, rude staff, unaccommodating owners. We experienced NONE of that. It was a pleasant stay and we'd probably stay again. (We liked the hotel, I only say "probably" because we have little kids, and would chose a bigger place if we come with them. This trip was a "mom and dad" only trip, and the room was GREAT for just us.) :)

For inquiring minds.....

I am going to note a few things that I wondered about the hotel that were hard to determine from their website:

...You aren't RIGHT on the beach here. There is a row of houses in front of the hotel, also on the cliff, but they don't obscure the view, especially if you're on an upper floor.
...If you want easy beach access-as in "step out the door and you're on the beach", this may not be the hotel for you. There is beach access, but since this hotel isn't ocean-FRONT property, you have to talk a little bit of a walk. We didn't try it, but it did seem like a reasonable trip and very doable, again, it's just not ON a beach.
...Personally, if you're a family w/ little kids wanting to play on the beach a lot, this may not be the place, but look over the website before deciding that. It might be a little bit harder to get to the beach, and there isn't really a good "de-sanding" area near the hotel for all those little sandy toes and bodies that are inevitable after a day at the beach.
...I included pictures of the view from our balcony. The rooms were just as pictured on the website, so I didn't bother with taking photos of those.

All in all, I'd recommend AND stay at this hotel again, especially for the price.

Room Tip: Good view from our room - top corner floor on the north end. Might've been a little better from...

Lovely experience, great staff and beautiful views! We were there midweek and off season and they were very attentive and accommodating. We have three dogs and they changed our room to make it more comfortable for us. Great beach access with miles to walk the dogs. We will definitely be back.

Ine of the best things about the Oregon coast is the lack of commercialism. You don't see endless Hilton, Hyatt, raddison, etc properties. The bulk of the accommodation along the coast are locally owned, small hotels and motels. The Edgecliff is one of these.
My latest stay was wonderful, a beautiful view from the deck to the pacific, fireplace (won't find that in a Hilton). Most importantly, the staff and ownership are kind and eager to accommodate.
I highly recommend the Edgecliff. I shall return here often.
