“The view from the EsterLee Studio/with Jacuzzi was GREAT!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 September 2005

We were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. We decided to try the Studio at the EsterLee, because, what we were looking for was the best view of the ocean, and we most certainly got that. We live in North Dakota, so after coming the long distance, we wanted the best view for our money. The accomodations were great. We were very satisfied with everything, except, you do have to climb steps and the distance down to the beach was okay, but,
when you got down there, it was very difficult to get all the way down because you had to climb down some rocks, which was all very difficult for me, because I have a very bad knee. So, I could only make that trip once. But, I enjoyed just looking down from our studio and watching the incredible view. Even though my husband would have preferred me being down at the beach with him, he still enjoyed many walks on the beach as I watched him from above. We had a very hard time leaving when it was time, because, the view was so amazing. The virtual tour on the EsterLee website definitely captures the way it looks inside the #4 studio. Everything was perfect!! Spotless!!Very comfortable bed and pillows. We opened the windows and fell asleep listening to the ocean!! Amazing-- when you have never experienced that before. Thank-you, EsterLee, for making our 40th anniversary so memorable!!

We are 2 couples who shared a 2-bedded, 1 bath cottage at Ester Lee on 8th September 2005 and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The cottage was comfortable and spacious, with all furnishings, kitchen and fixtures in good condition. The views of the sea from the picture windows are breathtaking - we could not drag ourselves away from them. As other reviewers have noted, there is a good walk down to the beach, but how can you expect to get these great vistas from such a commanding position without it?

The staff were unfailingly friendly, helpful and efficient and clearly enjoyed working in this superb location as much as we enjoyed staying.

Highly recommended and, at around $118 inclusive of taxes, the very best value we had in a 3 week road trip to the USA.

This is a very basic 2-star place with kitchenettes. The staff generally are efficient and helpful. The lodge is actually better than the "cottage" units, whose renovations appear to be occuring at a glacial pace. Very close to the highway and noise from traffic and other tenants (including their pets) can get annoying no matter where you stay in the facility. Steep walk to the beach.

Judging from their everchanging welcome sign out front, people return here for their annual vacation for decades. All I can say is that Ester Lee has the corner on tourists without imagination. I'll certainly be looking elsewhere in the future.

After checking out the Ester Lee's attractive photos on their website we placed our reservation. We booked 3 nights in a unit with a kitchen.

What a disapointment once we arrived!

#1 The carpet was discolored in several (large) spots where pet stains had been bleached out.

#2 The bathroom was beyond cramped. My knees were nearly hitting the wall as I sat in it and I cut my hand on the poorly installed metal toliet paper holder.

#3 The room had an overwhelming smell of industrial strength cleaning products. We oppened evey window we could immediatly but the smell still made my wife sick.

#4 The bed and the pillows were rock hard. I can sleep almost anywhere but that bed gave both my wife and I huge headaches. She got almost no sleep and I did little better.

#5 The room was located high up a very steep hill leading down to the beach meaning a tireing climb back to the room after a day at the beach.

The only nice thing about this place was a beautiful view of the beach and ocean.

The kitchen was adequete. The furniture and TV were dated but functional.

After one night on that nightmare bed we checked out early and stayed at a more expensive but far better place for the remainder of our trip.

A wonderful getaway. Very pet friendly, bout the only thing missing was a good wi fi connection.

All rooms come with an ocean view, such as this one:
