This is a beautiful lake with recreational facilities and rustic cabins.
Cabins are too close together and surrounded by huge RV facilities and campgrounds.
None of the cabins are lakefront and few have views of the lake.
On a summer day the resort was very crowded. Dust and smoke from un paved roads and open fire pits prevail.
Our cabin was tiny but adequate, there was no daily maid service and you are directed to wash your own dishes and carry out your own garbage. Not enough pillows.
Everything from firewood to ice and boat rentals cost extra. They also charge $5 to drive onto the property. Boat rentals are available but very expensive. Everything from kayaks and canoes to 12 passenger twin hull barges.
Dogs are permitted in some cabins so lots of dogs out and about.
Staff in General Store, where you check in and out, is slow and unfriendly.
Restaurant is better than the rest of resort.
We stayed in one of the little cabins after visiting Crater Lake National Park. The cabins have everything you need to relax and get away from the busy city. The beach area has cute red Adirondack chairs. The restaurant has great food and you can also grab small snacks at the little store. Great for families!
This is one of the best lakes in Oregon. Lake of the Woods has camping, fishing, boating, hiking and serene mountains surrounding the lake.
Across the street you can also drive down a dusty 6 mile road to get to some hidden lakes. Its worth a drive to see for the family.
My wife and I took two of our granddaughters to spend two nights at Lake of the Woods. We stayed in one of the many cabins. The resort has all the right facilities and it's setting is beautiful. There is a general store with basic food selections; a lodge with a restaurant and bar; and a marina with boat rentals. We rented paddle boards, kayaks, a pontoon boat for a full cruise of the lake. The girls swam in the lake and had a wonderful time. We ate in the main restaurant and had decent food with a good menu with plenty of variety and options.
Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful. Whoever is selecting and training the staff is doing a great job!
The general store had the bare minimum of food items.
The cabins were "rustic" at best. Remodeled about 15 years ago, they must have been fantastic then. They felt "cozy" and contained. But, all the hinges in our cabin squeaked, there were cobwebs on every window and screen, and the baseboards seemed dirty. My wife and I wondered how to rate this review. Could it be four stars? She said no because of the need for cleaning of the cabins and general maintenance.
In addition to cabins, there are spots for motor homes and travel trailers.
My wife and I stay here for a few days each summer. We love the lake and beautiful setting. We rent a slip for our boat and fish every day. We like cabin 14A, a one bedroom unit with full kitchen and nice patio and porch. We pay four-star hotel prices for the cabin and wish we got a bigger bang for the buck, but other factors outweigh the negatives. I would appreciate a newer, less saggy mattress and actual bath size towels that weren't so scratchy. The sheets were threadbare, as well. But, the friendly, youthful staff and great food in the restaurant make it all worth while. We will be back.
