We were of two minds regarding our stay at the resort. The lake, resort and surrounding mountain property are indeed beautiful and definitely worth the visit. The cabin we rented was not what we expected. It was very cute, as the website images showed, but was located right next to the road and across the street from the go-cart track making it a non-starter. The two gals running the office were very sympathetic and worked hard to find us another cabin which they ultimately did. They were great! The second cabin was not nearly as cute; in fact, it was quite "rustic." The gas grill was really funky and did not work well, but we were able to use it anyway. The wifi was very spotty and all but unusable. The cabin was not clean enough in our opinion, especially considering the additional $30 cleaning fee we were automatically charged when we made the reservation. The cabins were not near the lake, although they were more or less within walking distance if you are not carrying your gear (chairs, food, books, etc.). On the plus side, our small cabin was reasonably priced and the kitchen was well stocked. Having said all that, we still had a good time and enjoyed our stay.

The "resort" is comprised or many independently-owned cabins managed by one company. We were very pleased with both the cabin we rented and the service from the management company. #25 is right on the river with good views and great sound of the rushing water. Furnishings in the cabin were high quality and beyond adequate. Would be nice if they had recycling.

Oh, so didn't want to leave! Our cabin was right on the river and loved listening to the sound of it! The cabin was comfortable with all the amenities, complete with electric fireplace and cozy comfortable beds. Enjoyed being able to BBQ on the patio one night and sit and watch the deer and buck come up right next to the property! Great place to get away and relax and enjoy the area. Friendly staff and cute gift shop. Highly recommend this place,

We stayed in a rustic cabin at Wallowa Lake Resort for a week. The cabin was right on the Wallowa River, so we had the sounds of rushing water and a fantastic view from our front deck. There was a BBQ for our use as well as cabin accommodations for 5. Our son and his family were camping in the adjacent Oregon State Park so we appreciated the room for dinner and game nights. The cabin was clean and well stocked with everything we could imagine needing. The Wallowa area has so much to offer to those who want to hike, sight see, eat out, or just hang out at the cabin. A trip up the tram to Mt. Henry is costly but it's well worth it. Seven nights was just right for us, but we sure are thinking about a return trip.

Room tip: Look for a cabin that has a shaded deck in hot weather. You'll want to sit outside.

First--don't confuse this with Wallowa Lake Lodge, which is a totally different property. I notice some reviews here are addressing the wrong place.

The Resort is apparently a property management company for a large number of independently-owned cabins. They serve as the rental agent, arrange cleaning, etc. Prices are significantly lower than at the Lodge, because these are simpler places. Now I'll address where we stayed.

We stayed at 23-Heidihaus, accurately described as "Cute cabin located on large lot." It's 418 sq. ft.
Location is quite nice: it's back quite a ways from the road. Quite a few noisy motorcycles and pickups go by at times, so minimizing the noise is good. At night, with the windows open, you can hear the rushing of the Wallowa River. There's one nearby cabin, and we were fortunate to have quiet neighbors.
There is a fun miniature golf course next door, but fun also means that people there could be noisy in the evenings.
The building is in good repair, with modern kitchen, plumbing, wiring, windows. It has a wood heating stove and baseboard heating, but we were there in summer, and it was awfully warm. Since it lacks a screen door, it was slow to cool off at night, even though a couple of box fans were provided.
The layout is not optimal for four people. Our daughter and granddaughter stayed with us. They slept on pretty narrow platforms that work as daybeds, and when they needed to use the bathroom, they had to come through the bedroom, so privacy just doesn't happen.
The one bed was a decent size, but there are firm mattresses, and there are HARD mattresses. This was the latter, and pretty uncomfortable.
The cabin is maybe a 5 minute walk from the general store, and a couple more minutes to the lake and its many activities. Walking the other way, one can get on the tramway or get to the stables for a horse trip.
We did have a fun stay. We didn't sleep well because of the heat, mattress, and room layout.
We would definitely consider staying at the WWR again sometime, but would first read descriptions and reviews carefully.

Room tip: A collection of different cabins. Look at the descriptions to find what you want.
