“I usually avoid B&Bs”

But when I visited Joseph, OR for my son's wedding - I found the Bronze Antler an outstanding place to stay. The location was within walking distance of virtually everything in Joseph. The Bronze Antler gardens were perfect. The breakfasts were delightful. And the accommodations were beyond expectations - every detail of our room was perfect. Most importantly, our hosts made us feel welcome and did everything possible to make sure our stay in Joseph was memorable. They recommended really good restaurants, gave us insight to the best trails and sight to see, and even made sure we had no trouble finding the Mt. Joseph Cattle Ranch where the wedding took place. My wife and I spent three nights at the Bronze Antler - we would have been happy to stay longer. If I could I would give it 6 stars!

Room Tip: We were able to peek at all of the rooms during our stay. When Bill and Heather did their renovatio...

We were out in Joseph to do some additional exploration after a couple of backpacking trips in the Wallowas. This B&B was highly recommended by a friend and did not disappoint - every step of the way, Bill and Heather made us feel welcome, appreciated, and attended-to... if you are looking for the epitome of the golden customer service standard, it is alive and well at the Bronze Antler. Additionally, the furnishings were well-appointed and yet felt homey enough that I could go downstairs in the living room and feel comfortable sitting on the couch by the fireplace. The food: decadent. Plus little extras like brownies being available to soothe one's sweet tooth made this the perfect getaway experience. We'll be back, for years to come!

We'd read a few favorable reviews, but were still surprised that none of them had exaggerated. When we arrived, Bill showed us in and around the B&B. From the first, I was struck by how homey yet impeccably kept the place was. The details are what kept impressing me: the textures (mostly wood, but also first-rate tile, and more), the colors and the gorgeous stenciling. Right down to being able to "tune" the colors of the nightlight, Heather and Bill seem to have considered everything in making this a truly welcoming place to be. To be, not just sleep! The food was spot on: even though we think of ourselves as difficult, they just shrugged and made us a superb breakfast.

Even though I'm allergic to cats, I had no issues whatsoever: the bedrooms are in a "cat-free zone", and even where charming Madigan was, I had no difficulty, as the place is spotless.

The bed! Perfect. The view from it: magnificent. There's just so many good things to say, but I'll wind down now...

We'll be back!

Room Tip: All the rooms seem to be splendid.

Bill and Heather have a terrific B&B, but more importantly, they created such a nice atmosphere that we did not want to leave the breakfast table! See Daniel J's review for corroborating details.

We stopped at the Bronze Antler on our way from Idaho to Portland, and we had a handsome and comfiortable room, a great breakfast, and a lot more. Heather and Bill were welcoming, gave us good suggestions (including a great one on where to eat luch on the drive to Joseph AND one for the B&B to stop at the next night), told us a lot about the area, and even got us into a terrific Nex Perce dinner that chanced to be the night we stayed there. The breakfast was not only very good but there was great conversation with the others who were staying there, several of whom were repeaters -- my suspicion is that this was a dividend of the quality and attractiveness of the place. Anyway a great place abnd one that we'll visit again when we are in the area.
