The most overpriced and underwhelming tourist activity on the planet!! You get 1 cookie, a watery hot chocolate and a broken down train which they will not refund your ticket for when you’ve been stuck on there in the dark for hours. Lovely staff on the train itself, but a miserable experience apart from that.

We just enjoyed our 3rd annual train ride to Christmastown and it was a blast. Our 4 year old daughter loves it and we were blessed with a beautiful dusting of slow that left everything feeling like the North Pole. We will be back next year for sure!

We took A 1.5 year old and a 4 year only plus three adults. We booked the Diamond class which is tables and a domed glass top. We also chose 4:30 because It would not be very magical or scenic if it was not dark.
The ride is slow and rocks back and forth, if you get sea sick you may want to be prepared. The kids will get anxious and want to walk about which is very hard to do. they have coloring books and crayons, music and a story, hot chocolate and cookies. All to keep the kids entertained, until we pick up Santa. There are elves and animals in character costumes and then you pick up Santa. Santa was professional took time with every child and gave each one a bell and a picture. They did Polar Express until this year. I think they kind of combined the two experiences.
the things we did right.

1.Went to will call and got the tickets about an hour before our train ride, no line and the kids were at the hotel .2. Went at dusk it is obvious that a lighted "Christmas town" in the afternoon daylight would be a let down.3. Brought snacks and toys for the kids.4. Got a hotel and made it a big trip, they loved looking out our hotel window at the trains.

I don't know know if the higher price was worth it to ride in the dome but we enjoyed it.
I was a good experience and not one we would do again, it was not cheap.

Worst rip off ever! The train was an hour late. So after arriving an hour early as suggested we stood in the station for 2 hours. The first hour was fine but after that our toddler couldn't take it any more and started melting down. By the time we got on the train he was so upset that we couldn't calm him down and he was in a horrible mood the whole time.

Once on the train the tracks are so bad that the train rocks side to side the whole time. (Its not surprising that it derailed last week.) My wife got seasick. It rocks so bad that the workers could barely walk up and down the isle. We paid the extra money for "diamond class" thinking that the big windows would be nice because we could see more but the lights are on full brightness in the train so you cant see anything out the window but your own reflection. And the "hot" chocolate was cold...

Then the icing on the cake was we paid for 3 tickets but only got 2 coffee mugs. We had to ask for our 3rd mug and they argued with us.

Will never go on this ride again and will never recommend it to anybody.

Biggest waste of money ever!

We brought our two kids to this ride with high expectations for an experience of Christmas magic. We paid generously for the diamond class, which we very much regretted. The bathrooms and the music system were both out of order, and the lack of music left the ride feeling especially dry and not very festive. The hot chocolate was cold, essentially chocolate milk. The staff was very friendly and tried hard, but appeared not to have much of a grip on how the trip was supposed to go or on how to entertain children. It particularly was awkward when the elves read to us from a book which half of the kids could not see or hear. The ride had about five scenic minutes, followed by yards of various sorts and orchards. Christmas town itself is a red cardboard cut out next to a broken down car lot, abandoned buildings and general junkiness. My three year old son actually said of santa's house, "Nobody can live there, its flat!" Santa himself had blonde locks sticking out underneath his wig, which my daughter immediately noticed. By the end many children were squirming, whining or flat out screaming. Not even close to worth the money or the long drive.
