“Might be bit grotty but the views more than compensate!”
Reviewed 23 May 2008

We drove by Jot's and thought it looked ok to stay for the night on our trip down to San Francisco on the 101.
It was an unseasonably hot day, so the room was boiling, however, despite the lack of air-con, the room was big, tv and bathroom were fine, and the view was asonishing. Yeah the walls are thin but I didn't care as outside was a breathtaking view of t he river (complete with diving sealions) and the stunning bridge over to the other side. Amazing and great value I thought. Their restaurant over the road was fine too. I think because we were there for only a night we were more forgiving but the noiset might have gotten on your nerves for a longer stay (I wouldn't call it a resort either but it was a VERY welcome break from the highway for a night, and the staff were lovely. Just wish we had made time to do the river trips they offer as that looked brilliant also!)

I stayed in room 214 from March 21st to March 23rd. The staff was excellent. The only downside was the pool. The indoor pool was dirty and the sauna was out of order. The rooms were very well kept. The view of the Rogue River was great with seals jumping everywhere. I would definatly go back to this hotel.

It was okay. But if you want real beauty, keep driving south about 30 minutes to Brookings Oregon. BEAUTIFUL! Not sure why everyone stops in Gold Beach...

When we got into town, we drove around to see what would be best. We wanted to be able to walk to dinner. Gold Beach is not pedestrian-friendly so Jot's was the best choice since the restaurant is right across the street on a quiet road. Motel is a better word for this 'resort'. The side we were on was a bit run down, but we had a view of the river on a communal balcony, which was nice. They had very few staff people and the hotel was practically empty. The rooms were average at best. On the up side, the gym was surprisingly well equipped and they had a guest laundry facility. The 'Rod n Reel' restaurant was a bit overpriced and the food was also average. If you can last a bit longer on the drive, I suggest heading to Bandon...very cute town that is tourist-friendly.

I stayed two nights in early July. The first night I could hear a couple in the next room talking until well after 1 am. The walls were incredibly thin. The people were talking in normal voices, not shouting or partying, just talking, so I didn't feel it appropriate to complain to the management. I could have asked for a different room, but didn't want to wake my daughter and move all our stuff in the middle of the night. The next day I complained and was given a room for the second night with no one on either side and had a pleasant night. The manager suggested that they know the walls are thin in the "old" side but the insulation is much better in the "new" side, but they don't warn you, and for some reason don't try to space their guests out. They were only about 20% full when we were there. Otherwise the location is great and the motel is well maintained, but be sure to request a room in the new section, even though it costs a little more.

  • Liked — The location was great, right on the Rogue River
  • Disliked — The walls were very thin and it was very noisy and the advertised wireless internet works only in the office.
