To second what many have been saying about Inn/Fifth, yes Eugene finally has a real winner to match Duck football - hotel wise. Adios Best Western. We stayed a good part of the week at the Inn and the accommodations were extremely comfortable and very spacious. Very accommodating, helpful, friendly and professional staff. Also close by to restaurants and shopping.
Nice design touches at the Inn and great shower! Loved it.
The next door restaurant which provides room service - Marche - has excellent food and a bar .. But beware, service can be dodgy at the restaurant itself. It took an interminable amount on time for breakfast to reach our table, all because of huge room service orders and quite amazingly, because of a photo shoot in the kitchen!?! Uh, get it together
Marche on your coordination. We were mostly comped however because of the wait, so merci beaucoup...

Eugene has long had only worn out 1960's vintage motels....yucky place abound in this college town. Now at long last a beautiful classy place to stay, located steps from some of the best places to eat in town. Perfect if you are visting your student at U of O or seeing a Broadway show at the Hult Center. Rooms are wonderful, very nice decor, staff over the top helpful...
We will be back loved this place and Eugene now has a first class hotel!

Room Tip: Duvet is too heavy for summer...ask for a lighter blanket!

Stayed one night to see what the new Inn was like. Very nice. Not 5 star, however, they've done a good job. Great staff--friendly and helpful--not condescending at all. Valet parking is required although your car is parked about 50 feet from the front door ($15/night charge). At check-in you are offered a complimentary beverage (wine, beer, water). Nice touch. Bed is a little firm for our taste. Shower is excellent, although it dripped loud for about 5 minutes after. Close walking distance to many resaurants and the Hult Center. Hotel has a free shuttle for venues within a 4 mile proximity. Our room was a walkout onto the courtyard (floor 2)--very nice. Had an after dinner drink and dessert at LeBar, a hotel partner. Service was terrible--waited to get acknowledged, waited for drink, waited for dessert (which was good). Staff obviously distracted. Won't go back to LeBar. Hotel price is a bit high for Eugene, especially on high demand weekends. We don't plan to stay at The 5th everytime we are in town, but will go back for an occasional, extended visit. Other places are 1/2 the price when we are just in town for a ballgame and not spending any time in the room.

Room Tip: Get a courtyard room. 2nd floor was our favorite. Balconies on other floors are really tiny. South s...

The place to stay in Eugene.

The Hotel:
The staff is wonderful, the room crew is awesome, the location is perfect, the bed is comfortable, interesting art, computers on every floor, well appointed rooms...only a few drawbacks prevented a 5 star review. We were there for 8 nights with 2 children in a junior suite. The suite is the perfect size and we really enjoyed the window seats, but my husband could not stand not being able to open the windows. I don't understand why they can't at least crank open a tad. Anyhow, we asked to move and the only available room with balconies was a handicap room, so we lost a comfortable shower, but gained a balcony, on the balance it was really a toss up as to gain and loss. If the windows opened this place would be paradise. I can't speak to the conceriege service as we didn't take advantage of it. The hotel did recommended as bike rental place that totally tanked us even with a one month advance notice on our part...a huge bummer for us because we planned a full bike day with kids, however Blue Heron Bike Shop graciously and wonderfully accomodated us with wonderful bikes and even added a basket on mine and we enjoyed a great day and a half of biking around Eugene for an even better price...go here if you need a bike, helmets included!!!!

Coffee:
Kurieg machines in each room, but if a morning cap is for you gettting a good cup on site is not possible. The resturant next door (Marche) has horrible coffee and weak foam, the food however is wonderful and a good breakfast there is easily had, but we never were able to enjoy a realxing cup of coffee in our room, well maybe my husband as he drinks his coffee black . We found a great coffee shop down the street on Pearl Street...First City and they also have great pasteries. The hotel has a wine tasting room that we couldn't take advantage of, but would when we are return without young children.

Shopping next door at 5th Street Market:
We were not impressed overall with the food available next door, but the shops were wonderful, interesting and unique. None stayed open late, even on Fridays it was a ghost town at 9:00pm. Late night snacks or a drink need to be planned in advance. For us this was big because we tend to stay up late when traveling.

The Inn is a great find in Eugene and we recommend it highly. When they retrofit the windows to at least crank open there will be no availability as nothing in town compares.

Room Tip: Do you need a window that opens...great sound proofing...very quiet.

I spent two nights at Inn at the 5th while on business in Eugene. The staff is amazing! Friendly, helpful, competent and looking for ways to improve your stay. The bed was very comfortable. Showers great for tall people. The availability of a shuttle 24/7 was extremely beneficial and meant I didn't need to rent a car. They were patient and accommodating when my flight was delayed and were there to pick me up at midnight. I recommend Marche' for meals, wonderful food, great staff as most of Eugene knows.

Room Tip: My room overlooked the courtyard. Love the balcony with table & chairs. All rooms are quiet.
