Road tripping from Canada to CA we opted for spontaneous destinations on the last days of our trip, and gleefully chose Bend for an overnight. So looking for ‘day of’ hotel availability I found the premier Oxford overpriced for just a brief overnighter, but the Springhill Suites had great reviews, an available king, and an excellent price point. As a Marriott member, booking on their app from my co-pilot seat was a cinch (and keyless entry from your iPhone is, well, fun!).
The hotel was perfect for us - clean, new, quiet rooms w/ excellent appointments, free breakfast, a bar (!) where I was able to get a tasty seasonal craft beer from Deschutes to enjoy while unpacking.
I’d read several helpful TA reviews, one adding that they wished the hotel was a little closer to downtown - so we used Lyft for our night in town, which was easy and cheap. Another reviewer (thank you!!) mentioned Spoken Moto coffee just across the street. What a great find! And I’m a runner, and access to the river trail was a breeze from the hotel and allowed me to run an even better route (with stunning scenery and lively water fowl!) than the downtown river trail.
I only wish we’d had more time and could have explored Old Mill and floated down the river. But we’ll be back, and look forward to a longer stay at Springhill next time.More
