“Good Pies, Good Burgers”
Review of Coleman's Bakery

Coleman's Bakery

I still miss the old Colemans on Highway 75, but this place has those same great pies and of course the Burgers. The service is good. Location in good in downtown Okmulgee. The only thing they need is more room. Seating is limited, so go early. Try all the pies.

If you are hungry while driving on Hwy. 75 between Dallas and Tulsa, as my husband and I were last week, do pull off the road and stop at Coleman's in Okmulgee for something to eat. Stop anyway even if you aren't hungry, and be tempted by the bakery's luscious desserts.
My husband is a real fan of the burger, so, thanks to Trip Advisor and our smart phone, we found this spot that serves all-beef burgers and the best onion rings on either side of the Red River. Coleman's offers an unlikely - and very welcome - combination of a burger place that serves other good home-cooking-style meals and a bakery offering such favorites as gingerbread men and Mexican wedding cookies, both of which we took back to Dallas.
The restaurant used to be located right on Hwy. 75, so oldtimers will be familiar with the name. First opened in 1955, it reopened a few years ago on N. Seminole Ave., just a few blocks away, combining efforts with a well known local bakery. It's worth the detour - west on 6th St., and north on Seminole - can't miss it. It's closed on Sundays and Mondays. Pity. We hope to be back when we're up that way, and we'll plan our trip not to be on a Sunday or Monday.
