This is not a typical bar. Instead of the usual bar food, there is a wonderful BBQ buffet with home cooked sides. BBQ ribs were falling off the bone. My favorite veggies were fried cabbage, mashed potatoes, and green beans. There was a nice variety of meats, vegetables, relish and pickle bar, and. A well stocked salad bar that would tempt vegetarians and carnivores.

Anyone who can mix chandeliers, corrugated tin wainscotting, and taxidermy into a kitschy decor and outstanding food and service has a winning combination. I definitely recommend Mortys.

Tulsan's take the highway. It's a short 40 mile drive to downtown Okmulgee. There's a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! There's a bodacious salad bar with homemade macaroni salad with smoked chicken. There's a pickle, pepper, and tomato relish bar. There's homemade mashed potatoes, white gravy, best brown gravy, fried chicken, Barbeque chicken, catfish, bologna, pulled pork, chopped beef, chicken taquitos, chicken and dumplings, fried cabbage, collard greens, pinto beans, green beans, corn, fried okra, cakes, cobblers, and beignets! ALL YOU CAN EAT for $15. At night they add chicken fried steaks and St. Louis ribs. Service excellent! Justin and Dwight are the restaurant proprietor gods! We're not worthy!

This is the place we go in town to meet up with old high school friends for a nice dinner. The food is good and the atmosphere is great. They have a great catfish plate and a wonderful "pool table" buffet. Justin & Dwight are the owners/chef and they are fantastic!

Staying with friends near Tulsa, we went to see the Pecan Festival in Okmulgee. Streets are shut off downtown for vendors, carnival rides, local wares, and a motorcycle stunt team giving frightening performances.

We had reservations for Morty's. They opened around April 2016. There were seven (7) in our party ranging from two children 6 & 8, including middle ages, and seniors.

The menu is extensive with local foods and fish, specializing in catfish. Sandwiches and burgers are available, as well as a good selection on the buffet. The buffet has catfish, pulled pork, chicken, potatoes, mac & cheese, salad fixings, and still more. Our party had a combination of buffet foods and menu items.

I had the Reuben Sandwich. I won't go into the ingredients, as most already know, and I will firmly state it was the BEST Reuben I have ever had. The pastrami was cooked just right, the Thousand Island dressing was superb and the sauerkraut added the right balance, all on a marbled rye bread. The breaded catfish was so tasty, I almost regretted ordering the Reuben. Ah, the Reuben!

Everyone else's food items from the buffet were just as tasty. As an appetizer, Morty's serves beignets, the sweet pastry that is made famous as a delight at Café du Monde in New Orleans.

The price for all items were extremely reasonable. AND, I must add the service by all was excellent. Our server's name is Barbie. She excels at her job, and is very friendly, timely, and concerned about her customers. Big kudo to Barbie at Morty's. If/when we come back to Oklahoma to visit, we shall visit Morty's again.
