This park is clean with fairly easy access. Easy back in sites with shade and tree's. Our 3rd visit here and we are always lucky enough to get a lake side site.

Excellent Satellite reception (DISH) and cell phone signal (AT&T). No antenna TV reception at the site we were in but we did see people with their antenna's up.

Sites can get a bit close together, our neighbors fire pit was right outside our rear window.

We stayed 2 nights in a 5th wheel on our way to Texas.

Very dirty lake, but the fishing is pretty good and the bike trails are excellent on the east side of the lake.

This is primarily a fishing and boating attraction, but there are some trails worth checking out ideally not in the warm time of the year. During those times you need to check for ticks and sniggers if you go on the trails. This is a good place to see deer and turkey. Good birding if you take your time to look. The campground looks ok, but not very private sites. There are picnic areas and public bathrooms. Very popular on holiday weekends and summer weekends.

Taking Alameda drive east to the 13101 address has more parking options and beach access. Either entrance have boat ramps and there is a marina further east on Alameda drive. Like a lot of lakes in central Oklahoma there's lots of clay and during a strong rain storm the water can appear almost blood red. Clay deposits in engines or drive trains does require more frequent cleaning and it can stain clothing or other fabrics. I Have seen plenty of real large catfish caught at Lake Thunderbird, some by noodling.
Be advised that drinking the water from the lake can be risky and there are fresh water taps at many locations.

This was our first visit to Oklahoma. The state park was nice, clean, and fairly roomy. We had a bad experience at a private RV park in town and this was great. The park roads and bathrooms could use a little work, but overall, a good experience.
