This place was well worth the visit--we stayed on Monkey Island but came here daily for the trails, the Lake views, the birds, and the quiet. (No one was here this week---a bonus for us). Amanda, at the nature center, kept it open just for these two Michiganers--and we thank her! We got to meet her pal Bumper and become Junior Rangers LOL. Thanks Amanda for the great visit. The trails are short, but perfect for stroller and wheelchairs.

My husband and I are hitting as many state parks as possible this summer so this one didn't rank up there with the great salt plains, alabaster caverns, or gloss mountains etc. but it was a nice little area.
Trail was paved the whole way. Nature center was closed when we got there at 4:45. (It closes at 4pm) Observation platforms to look out at lake or forest area. Didn't see any wildlife except for butterflies. Pensacola dam and sailboat bridge both nearby and worth a stop.

Bernice has a very nice state park right next to Grand Lake. The park has some playgrounds, restrooms, and various camp sites as well. On the far side of the park is their hidden gem, though.

There's a Nature Center that is well worth the time and trip to visit this park. There are multiple exhibits for you to see animals; both mounted and alive. There's also many displays with educational facts and numerous interactive items; such as pelts and bones. The center staff, Amanda, was absolutely amazing as well. Very knowledgeable of the local fauna and was able to share stories with us about many of the different animals that they have. She's obviously passionate about what she does but in a way that gets you interested and involved.

Visited many places around Grand Lake during our vacation, and both of my daughters said that this was there favorite spot of all the different places. If you enjoy animals and nature, highly recommend that you allocate a couple hours to visit the park and nature center.

Staff was amazing!! She helped us "create" a magnet from the small gift shop they have (we collect magnets and they didn't have any). Little center, but super neat and my girls had a blast. Then we walked the short trail they have and enjoyed the surrounding nature - they have several observation decks and "off-trail" paths to go down!!
