“A very relaxing stay”
Reviewed 28 December 2015 for a stay in December 2015

Traveled with my spouse and our 7 year old. Even though the weather was cold and rainy, the cabin was warm and inviting. Cozy and a great getaway from the holiday rush. We loved the hot tub and the dinning table was big enough for games and a lego project. Hope to see it again when the weather cooperates so that we can better enjoy the beautiful scenery and the pond.

We are thrilled that you chose to spend a little post holiday time with your family at our Old Red Cabin! We wish that you all would have had some fresh fallen snow to frolick in....instead of cold wet rain. The weather has been so unusual this winter. Glad you thought ahead and brought some Legos to work on while hanging out inside.
Thank you for taking a moment to review your stay with us and we hope that you will consider visiting us again!

“Amazing Retreat”
Reviewed 16 December 2015 for a stay in December 2015

My girlfriend and I stayed here for two nights to celebrate her birthday. She really wanted to find a secluded and peaceful retreat to get away from the city, and this was everything she wanted and more. We walked into the cabin and were hit with the warming scent of cedar and the glow from the Amish fireplace in the lofted bedroom. There was noone else staying at Diamond Lake, but even if there were, we wouldn't have had to see anyone while we were there if we didn't want to! Each of the cabins is nice and private. We couldn't have felt more refreshed after relaxing in the huge hot tub and grilling some great private dinners before retiring to the loft.
Old Red has everything you need for your stay, and the setting is beautiful and rustic. Take the two hour drive from Columbus, it's easy and you will not regret it.

So happy we found this cabin. Not expensive and had everything we were looking for. Owner was very nice and there is so much detail to the cabin. Love that its hand built with real wood. Bed was really comfortable. Hot tub was amazing. Cant wait to come back in the summer

“Romantic Getaway”
Reviewed 22 February 2015 for a stay in February 2015

After looking at a lot of different cabins we decided on this and we were very glad we did! The Rustic theme and layout was awesome the view from the hot tub while it was snowing was beautiful. It is a great place to go for a nice getaway and we plan on going back in the summer on a family vacation.

“Great fishing getaway, very private”
Reviewed 3 January 2015 for a stay in December 2014

The cabin itself was beautiful, the deck was huge with a large table, 2 chair swing rocker and 7x7 mega hot tub that is always on. Closest to the small lake but very private. the other cabins were in the distance. Take a dark road to get there and then turn off onto a mile and a half long rutted part gravel road. We came upon 4 deer on this road and saw deer both mornings we were on the property. Not close to food places or shopping areas. Entrance door has push button combo lock instead of key. Inside cabin opens to full kitchen straight ahead with large dining table and TV on left with a small table and futon on right. Small bathroom with tiny shower to the rear. To get to the bedroom loft be prepared to climb the steep wood ladder up and back down for the bathroom. The bedroom loft was basic, dresser with TV on top, armoir dresser, bed, and electric fireplace. There is no fireplace downstairs, but there is a fire pit with wood off front deck near an outdoor shower. All inside wood is a polished red cedar and gorgeous. The bad we encountered were mouse droppings in the pots and under counters and in other places, although the owner says he wasn't aware of any mice. There are flies and dead bugs on the window sills that evidently hibernate and come alive when the cabin heats up, then drop dead on the floor after a few hours LOL. The water was hit or miss on being hot, I was later told that there is a trick to turning on the water or the water heater will "lock up". All windows had burlap potato sacks as curtains. These did not cover the windows completely and could be a privacy issue if people were fishing from the 3 docks at night. The other bigger cabins were far enough away as to not matter. The downstairs futon blankets and pillows did not look to be fresh either, although we didn't sleep on it. The floor rugs close to falling apart. This is a great fishing cabin, but if you are looking for a romantic get away then take your $179 and get a B&B style place somewhere else. There are too many things a city woman would not care to deal with on her vacation. We never met the owner as we were in/out early/late. Got door code by phone and did a quick we are here, we are gone by phone. Wifi and cell phone booster worked well at the cabin.
