The Bass and Flinders Motor Inn was a very quiet hotel Unfortunately as it was Sunday, the restaurant was closed, hence we went downtown at the pier for dinner. The rooms are clean and tidy and the beds were comfortable. The shower/bathroom needed some renovation. The shower also could do with a bit more water pressure.
Breakfast was punctual and served hot.
There is convenient parking right in front of the door.

We stayed here on our first night in tassie and on our way back to the boat. The rooms are clean and tidy, bed comfortable, showers clean. Spacious rooms. The owner was very friendly and recommended places to eat and told us how long it would take us to get to the boat.

Ulverstone is not a tourism magnet, but is centrally placed in the region, and has good services for the traveller. Last time I stayed in the town my night was disrupted by a freight train moving through the town during the small hours, sounding horn at each of the many street crossings. Bass & Flinders Motor Inn is well away from said train, or busy roads, and this together with a nice bed allowed a more restful stopover.
Rooms are spacious and clean. There is a restaurant, and breakfasts can be ordered. Good parking available.

Hosts were friendly. Food was great home cooked country meal. Great value for money.
Rooms clean, comfortable bed and my husband really liked the wine recommended by our host for dinner.
Close to town and beach.
Really enjoyed our stay. Would have stayed longer if we had time.

We stayed here on the first night of a 2 week reconnoitre of Tasmania, having arrived in Devonport that evening on the day ferry. It is in a very quiet location and a scenic but short drive west of Devonport on the freeway.

At $120 for a Queen room it was cheaper than many places in the region. The room was spacious, clean and the free internet lightening fast. Furnishings were of high quality. You get a microwave oven! (Coles and Woolworths are just a short drive away.) There were a few negatives, but only enough to mark the room down from excellent to very good - for example, the bath mat was a bit thin; there was a leak from under the shower door frame letting water onto the floor of the bathroom; and there were no tissues in the room. But in retrospect these were very minor compared to others places we stayed in.

If you are visiting Cradle Mountain it is actually quicker to drive back and stay here than go to places like Mole Creek where the accommodation is much dearer and quite inferior. Also, not having been here before, we did not realise that the region has so much to offer, for example Leven Canyon. We will know in future to make Ulverstone our base.
