We stayed in the Willows for 3 nights. We never did get to meet our hosts - when we arrived there was an envelope with a greeting message and the key clipped to their front door. We dropped by a couple of times during the stay but never found them home - I made arrangements for departure over the phone.
The apartment was comfortable & roomy. The lounge area is on one level and there is a step up to the bed area. There is some low level lighting under the step, which was a very useful feature at night, acting as a night light. Bathroom and kitchen areas are a few steps down from these areas. There are grab-rails at the sides of the steps to assist those who need them.
The bed was comfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped and our hosts left generous breakfast supplies for us. We made good use of the washing machine and clothes airer. The bathroom was a good size. There was hanging space for clothes in the bathroom, but there is little in the way of shelf space for clothes that aren't hung (a small drawer & shelf on bedside tables) - we ended up leaving them in our cases and having those on the spare bed.
The Shingles is about 1 km out of the centre of town on the river bank.More
