Wattle Cafe was recommended to us - I don't know why. It looked okay when we checked it out but when the food was served we were shocked, we both had a BLT - it was served on two thick slabs of white bread, not toasted and with no butter. The bacon was generous and well cooked, the tomato in thick slices and the L was a peppery mix of flavours. what causes a coffee shop to make such an error and it wasn't just at our table - thick slices of bread throughout the cafe were untoasted - regardless of what you ordered.

Cafe fronts the busy main road, so it's quite noisy with big trucks rolling past. The wait staff could have been more pleasant and helpful. We came into the shop at the exact time (or a minute before) they switch to the lunch menu, and the waitress refused to let us order from the breakfast menu. Could have been more flexible as we didn't know their menu timings. Food was only okay, nothing to shout about. There are better options in Blackheath for your breakfast.

It's very disappointing how our visit to this cafe ended. We came in, it was packed, there was 5 of us. We knew there weren't any seats inside but we thought maybe they can do something about arranging seats for outside. Went towards the counter and was looking around. The lady making coffee just blurted out "Are you looking for a table, is that what's happening here?" But not in a friendly way, her tone was very condescending and blatantly rude. Straight away we just left. She didn't first acknowledge us, no greeting, just said it. I'm glad they are busy, good for business but just wish she dealt with the situation with good customer service.

On a cold and windy Saturday morning, Wattle Cafe was a great location for breakfast. We sat at the bar at the window and watched the world go by whilst we enjoyed very yummy eggs and coffee. Warm, friendly and inviting.
