very poor service, over an hour for food to arrive, other tables had simular waits no explanation until 5 minutes before it eventually arrived (sorry for wait) and the food was very medeocre, have been before and was not impressed with food but thought we would give it another go order something different.. mistake still poor, how can you get something so wrong on such a limited menu that's offered every day. We wont eat there again.

Partner has moved into the area recently and have been in for drinks a number of times now. Sunday 26th August we decided to try for Sunday lunch. It was very busy, bar and restaurant. Lovely atmosphere. We sat in the restaurant which has a lovely feel. We both opted for lamb, waitress asked if we wanted it pink which of course we did but we like the fact that she asked, as I know some people do not. Food came out very quickly which was good. Lamb was pink Yorkshire puddding and roasters were lovely, red cabbage, roast carrots and swede with cabbage and green beans. Delicious. Cooked to perfection. We do like quality over quantity, not one for the pile it high big carvery experience,
we thoroughly enjoyed it and will be eating there a lot more now. Partner has tried the fish and chips and said they were the best he had had in a long time. Bar staff are always friendly and chatty and make you welcome. Good selection of gins, slowly getting to try them all.
We realise how lucky we are to have a fantastic village pub in walking distance.
Have to add, I left my phone in the ladies toilet, luckily somebody handed it in.

Thank sara h

Over in England for a shooting competition and used Google maps to find a pub near to Hilton St George where we were staying. It was 2 miles down the road and we went to it on the Thursday evening we arrived. A lovely quaint pub in the middle of the village with excellent food and excellent service. I can highly recommend the homemade beefburger and also the rib eye steak. We met the butcher who supplies the meat to the pub who was there selling pork pies on the Thursday evening and of course took 2 home with us.
The meal was so good on the Thursday that we booked again for Friday night with some more friends. A special shout out to Sammi our waitress who was absolutely charming. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

My husband and I are staying in Newborough for 3 weeks and we popped into the Red Lion because it is within walking distance. It has now become our favourite spot to spend an hour or two.....having a drink and almost always, something from the wonderful menu. The staff are exceptionally friendly and capable and we would highly recommend this authentic British pub.

first time visit despite having driven past it dozens of times......what a great place.

Cozy, staff welcoming.

Food very, very good. All four of us had different mains and gave them all 10/10. Special mention to the crispy chunky chips.

Slight downward mark for the jam roly poly.

Expect to pay an average of £25pp for two courses with soft drinks.

Thank Paul W
