Had not eaten here for a couple of years but we were delighted to find its quality and standard was as good as ever. Whilst the choice on the menu is not large it does offer a good choice of meat and fish dishes which were cooked to the highest standards and we were offered an excellent choice of accompanying vegetables. There was similarly a good choice of starters and desserts and those we chose were excellent. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal

I was defintely half the age of the other guests but it did not matter - we were only there one night. We had a really lovely room - in the barn - very quiet. Gorgeous little town steeped in history. The food was very good.and an interesting menu. Walked Wenlock Edge - slightly disappointing walk - the Long Mynd is much more dramatic.

Room Tip: The outside barn room that we had was fabulous.

Two night stay with friends. Room comfortable but looking a little worn in places.

Dinners were very good although disappointed that the menu didn't change - not even one or two "specials". One breakfast also very good. Staff very friendly and helpful.

However the generally good experience was let down by one disappointing breakfast with poor service and poorly cooked food. Dinner on one night was also a little rushed because they wanted to concentrate on a large party.

A little more consistency in the service plus some refreshing of the room decor and this could be an excellent place to stay and eat.

John and I stayed at The Raven for two nights recently, booked Bed, Breakfast and Evening Meal for the first night, it was so delicious as soon as had finished we booked dinner for the second night. We found the staff friendly and very helpful, the room was large, light, airy and very clean, if a little worn. The olives before dinner were to die for, which is quite something because I don't eat olives very often, they were FABULOUS.

Ourselves and my in-laws have just returned from a great weekend break at this hotel. Everything was excellent - from the very friendly, helpful and professional service, to the really terrific food. We loved both the delightfully large, light and airy rooms that we had, and found them some of the most comfortable we had ever stayed in. Much Wenlock is a beautiful small town with many individual interesting shops and The Raven Hotel is perfectly situated - near the centre but far enough away to be quiet overnight.
It is really worth opting for the half-board option as the food is remarkably good.We would recommend this hotel without any reservations and feel sure that we will be returning for another stay !
