“Spa Day with afternoon tea ... without the tea !”

Witney Lakes Resort Spa
Reviewed 6 April 2018

Booked a spa day for my partner and her daughter for her 21st birthday. We are members anyway so thought it a good idea to book here. The spa treatments were good , but part of the package included afternoon tea. This was appalling !!! scones were hard and almost to the point of being burnt. We didn't even get offered a cup of tea with the afternoon tea and it really wasn't a treat at all. Shame really as it's really quite a nice place with good facilities and wonderful location. My advice would be to just book a couple of treatments but please avoid the afternoon tea.

We have been members of Witney Lakes for around fifteen years now. Unfortunately it is not the Health Club it used to be. It is under new ownership, since when it has gradually started to lose it’s special touch. It is generally not as well kept as it used to be. The changing rooms are very busy as new member numbers are rising, and are not always up to the standard they should be. The pool is generally (although always denied) below temperature for a spa pool. The bistro has a new menu and presumably there is a new chef as the ‘homemade style dishes’ have reverted to bog standard sliced bread and higher prices. The staff, although friendly and polite are mainly young now and no one seems to take responsibility for keeping up the standards of what was once an exceptional Health Club. I think the new owners would do well to consider their existing members as well as the ‘venue’ side of the business.

We attended a charity event at Witney Lakes which was absolutely phenomenal the effort that the organisers and James the manager of Witney Lakes put into this was absolutely fabulous and a lovely amount of money was raised for charity!!!!! I am also a member of Witney Lakes and have seen a number of changes over the years however for the better...... than new gym is absolutely amazing the new menu in the bistro and the sports bar is phenomenal I went up today with 5 people all advised that they thought it was much better having a larger menu and then loved the refit .
This place is AMAZING !!!!

Me and my wife got married at the Witney Lakes Resort early March and we could not fault the day provided by Witney Lakes!

With all the snow we had due to the 'beast from the east' members of staff worked tirelessly to ensure the day would got ahead.

The room where we had our reception and dinner was out of this world and everything was setup how we wanted it to be. It over looked the golf course which was a lovely setting with all of the untouched snow on the course.

The food was lovely and staff could not do enough for you, they were excellent! We booked to have our wedding here 2 years ago and the wedding planner is brilliant in helping you get everything prepared and is always available should you need anything which made our lives a whole lot easier!

I could not recommend this place enough, it was a fantastic day and all of our guests had a fantastic time!

Thank you Witney Lakes!

There has been a change of ownership of the resort - and a big investment - however they seem to have taken on a great deal of new members and the classes are now very busy and oversubscribed. Whilst the changing rooms are pleasant they are now too small for the numbers using them at times, particularly at the start and end of classes in the mornings.
