Attended a wedding over the weekend. Ceremony took place in the garden with views across the golf coarse. Drinks on the patio before a seated meal upstairs. Decor was pleasing and staff attentive although at times the bar service was a little slow. Live music and a DJ went down well. Overall the venue performed well with the bride was the star

Lovely grounds and facilities . The buildings have character and interiors are beautifully clean . Reception staff were friendly and helpful . The changing rooms and cloakrooms were spotless . The setting for the indoor pool is stunning with sliding glass doors to decking overlooking a small lake . The wooden ceiling is a beautiful feature . The pool was not crowded and gloriously childfree . The public areas are stylish but lacking in atmosphere . If you are willing to brave the wasps , there is a very pleasant outdoor patio area overlooking the lake . I ordered a soda and lime with ice at the bar . The individual serving looked totally confused and asked if they were to go in the same glass . Oh dear . I also ordered a cup of tea which was lukewarm and underwhelming . The outside patio tables were not clean . There were two overflowing ashtrays , dirty crockery and glasses and rather a lot of bird poo ! It is such a shame that a lovely venue was let down by disappointing standards of service .

I tried to book a massage on 2 successive days and was told each time that someone would ring me back - no one ever did. In response to my feedback, the manager just made excuses, and said that he was on annual leave currently and would deal with it in 5 days when he returned. Surely someone should be responsible when the manager is away.

We were excited to have booked a 4 treatment package but strange enough felt that the treatments were finished well before time was up. The atmosphere is lovely and the therapists are very friendly but the overall services could be improved . The massage was good but the facial which was supposed to be a half hour treatment felt like it was rushed and hardly felt anything being done besides a mask and clean up.
The lunch was very disappointing, the food was cold and hard to chew on. There was only one person attending to many people so the service was rather poor.
The pool, steam and sauna room are good and relaxing.
Another big disappointment was our nail treatments. We were expecting some decent mani and pedi's (again 30 min treatment each) but ended up getting only a file and polish. The website should indicate that clearly. If we had known we would have probably not picked that package because it was already expensive enough and then to add more on top to upgrade to a full nail treatment was ending up being too much.
We don't mind paying the price but it also has to be worth.

Society golf day. Started off with a very healthy!! bacon sandwich, it was bacon in granary slices. Nice bacon and fresh bread. Coffee served was also of excellent quality. Not instant as so many golf packages include but nice freshly made coffee. Last played here about 18 months ago and the course just seemed bare and devoid of character. It has now grown up and the mature trees and well kept wide fairways, and greens were a pleasure to play. Ons niggle was that the 2nd cut was just long enough to hide a ball necessitating some unnecessary minutes searching on occasions.
The meal after the golf was plain old ham eggs and chips served with home made bread rolls cut into portions. Though plain the eggs were nicely cooked, the chips were crispy and a few too many and the ham was the real thing cut off the bone. The ham portions were more than adequate.
Now the staff. Well they were all just great. Friendly, natural and welcoming.
If you want to play a different course and have a nice meal afterwards then give this place a try.
The bar also served a wider range of food but for the next step up I understand that the restaurant is very good. I might try it sometime.

I like to exercise in peace! Recently refurbished, it is an excellent and well stocked health club with good staff and equipment. Best of all is the lovely view over the golf course. The pool is big and usually quiet. I haven’t done a class yet in three years, but who knows? If I had the time I would go more often.

I visited Witney Lakes for a spa day which included 2 one hour treatments. The highlight of the day were the 1 hour facial and 1 hour massage by Maddy in the spa who was very experienced and did a wonderful job catering to my specific needs to make sure i got the most out of the treatments. I am sure I blissed out at one point before 'coming to' .... so if you want to spend some time being pampered this is a good place to come.
I have done a number of spa days and the treatments were top notch - the 2 course lunch however was rather underwhelming .... chicken grilled (nice) but with a rather dry packet couscous didn't match the quality that would be expected with a £130 spad day package. I had expected to have lunch in the restaurant off the menu which was linked through from the spa day package website.
Other than the food it was a treat to spend a Monday here - better than being at work!

Service a bit slow but maybe to be expected on such a busy day. Did have to wait a long time for Starters. Have been here twice now & both times food has not been really hot so must be sat waiting a while. The food is good - had traditional Sunday lunch & there was plenty of everything but did seem as if you had to ask for everything instead of it just coming. Thought that £7.50 for a 2 yr olds piece of lamb a bit expensive.
Would maybe try again when not so busy

Booked a spa day for my partner and her daughter for her 21st birthday. We are members anyway so thought it a good idea to book here. The spa treatments were good , but part of the package included afternoon tea. This was appalling !!! scones were hard and almost to the point of being burnt. We didn't even get offered a cup of tea with the afternoon tea and it really wasn't a treat at all. Shame really as it's really quite a nice place with good facilities and wonderful location. My advice would be to just book a couple of treatments but please avoid the afternoon tea.

We have been members of Witney Lakes for around fifteen years now. Unfortunately it is not the Health Club it used to be. It is under new ownership, since when it has gradually started to lose it’s special touch. It is generally not as well kept as it used to be. The changing rooms are very busy as new member numbers are rising, and are not always up to the standard they should be. The pool is generally (although always denied) below temperature for a spa pool. The bistro has a new menu and presumably there is a new chef as the ‘homemade style dishes’ have reverted to bog standard sliced bread and higher prices. The staff, although friendly and polite are mainly young now and no one seems to take responsibility for keeping up the standards of what was once an exceptional Health Club. I think the new owners would do well to consider their existing members as well as the ‘venue’ side of the business.
