“Relaxing stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 April 2012

Spent 2 nights here recently, location wise it was great due to proximity to the m40. Room was a good size and nicely furnished and very clean, and it's a newly built hotel which Is always a bonus. Breakfast was great, full English included as well as continental
If required. Spa a leisure facilities were first class and there is golf but weather was too bad for this on our stay, Bicester town is local too as well as Bicester village. Overall good value and a great break will stay again

My partner and I stayed at the Bicester Hotel on a Friday in April (2012), it was an absolute pleasure.

The spa was absolutely fantastic, the food (dinner) was excellent and the room was modern, clean and very comfortable.

We had our concerns about breakfast as we'd read some bad reviews, whilst it wasn't the best we'd ever experienced - it certainly wasn't the worst, nice cooked breakfast that we really enjoyed.

Really glad we chose to stay at their establishment, we'll certainly book again.

Didn't manage to play golf - but the course looked in great condition from what I could see.

Room Tip: We had room 35, and it was excellent.

Excellent and challenging golf course. Very good hotel and Spa facilities. Very good restaurant with excellent food and service. Our room was an executive suite that was large and very nicely furnished.

We have returned today after a 3 day Easter break and I can honestly say this hotel was superb!! We had a standard room but the room was spacious, clean (even inside the wardrobes which makes a change) and the bathroom was perfect! The staff were very friendly the food was excellent and the spa and gym had everything you could wish for. I would totally recommend this holiday and would definitely go back!! The only downside which is purely constructive criticism is it lacked a safety deposit box which would easily have fitted inside the wardrobe and breakfast was a little bizarre if you accepted toast when asked and then said you would like scrambled egg for breakfast you simply would just get a plate of scrambled egg and not on toast, very odd! Wouldn't stop me going back though......

Location is about 10 minutes from the centre of Bicester and about £8 in a cab each way; the hotel can arrange a taxi for you and we had no problems getting one back at 23:30.

The room (room 52) was well furnished and well presented but cleaning does need some work. I asked housekeeping to renew the towels we had used and empty the rubbish with they did immediately. Our room had a Juliet balcony which overlooked the central courtyard.

Reception and checking in was easy enough once we'd located the hotel entrance; you need to drive into the car park, find a space and then haul your luggage all the way to reception which isn't sign posted - all guess work really. Once in reception the check in was straight forward but there are no staff to assist with bags even if your wife is six months pregnant.

Breakfast was included in our bed and breakfast package but had I been asked to stump up £12.50 (£25 for 2 people) I would have been disgusted. There is a light continental buffet with full English being ordered upon request; pastries, tea, coffee and juices are also available.

Overall this is a pleasant bed and breakfast stay which when compared to smaller bed and breakfasts locally is over prices. It seems to me that Bicester Hotel, Golf and Spa is not quite good enough to be a decent hotel and maybe a bit to pricey for a bed and breakfast. If you use the pool and spa then it represents value for money.

The hotel could make immediate improvements in sign posting the reception entrance, having staff on hand to assist with luggage and offering a welcome soft or hot drink guests. I would stay again if the rate was the same.

We are sorry to read that your stay with us did not meet your expectations. We are in the process of arranging signage both on the changed road layout and within our grounds. This should be completed early next month. The main entrance to the hotel is quite promienent and there is always a member of staff to assist with luggage upon arrival. We are more than happy for you to park your car and ask us to arrange for your luggage to be brought to your room. I apologise if this was not offered to you but if requested, we can arrange.

Your are correct in your statement that all packages are inclusive of full English breakfast, this consists of a selection of fruit juices, cereals, yogurts, cold cuts of meat and cheese, fresh fruit, croissants and pain au chocolate, together with hot beverages toast and preserves, then there is a choice of eggs served with bacon, sausage, mushrooms, tomoatoes and baked beans, good value for £12.50 as there are no limits on the amount of times you can visit the buffet and no more is charged if you request additional beverages and toast.

We also provide just a cooked breakfast in the Sports Bar. Guests do have the option to book on a room only rate and chose their preferred breakfast or take breakfast en route.

Bicester Hotel Golf and Spa does offer more than the average B&B and our rates do reflect the services that are included. All residents have unlimited acces to the health club including heated indoor pool, sauna, jacuzzi, steam room and spa. Any treatments would need to be booked and paid for seperately and are subject to availability.

Your reservation was made via a third party website and in this increasing automated price conscious world we live in, we would always recommend that you contact the hotel directly givng us the opportunity to discuss your individual requirements and to meet your needs within your budget, this would give us a better understanding of what you are looking for and an opportunity to advise you on certain information prior to your arrival such as changes in road structure in the area due to building works, where to park, assistance with luggage etc.

We do hope that our feedback has been useful and do hope to welcome you back in the future to Bicester Hotel Golf and Spa
