I was struggling to find accommodation on Holy Island, and stumbled upon this pub by chance when looking at the location of another hotel on Google Maps - and I'm glad I did. I called to enquire about availability and the staff were very friendly and helpful, even down to suggesting which room would be suitable. We stayed for 3 nights in room 2, which was a deluxe double with a four poster bed. It was a lovely room full of character. There was a bay window which you could sit in and enjoy views of the harbour. The pub itself gets very busy, but we always managed to find a spot to enjoy the vast array of beers and wines on offer. We also enjoyed an evening meal which was excellent and very good value for money. Breakfasts were exceptional as well, with a varied hot menu, and everything prepared for you, including toast. (I personally hate having to stand in the queue for the toaster that never browns your bread). The hotel is in a great location for ferry trips to the Farne Islands, and all surrounding attractions, which are a short car ride away including Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island, Alnwick, and many more. We enjoyed long walks along the magnificent coastline, although the golfers weren't particularly friendly when using the public path that goes through the course! A beautiful part of the country that we shall visit again and will definitely be back at the Olde Ship for another stay.

Room Tip: Room 2 is a four poster room with view of the harbour

My Sister and Law and I spent three nights in this wonderful old pub in a gorgeous room with sloping ceiling, ensuite and twin beds. We peaked in some of the other rooms on the lower floor, one had a four poster in it!! The staff again were wonderful. My S. in Law had bought a small tree and they didn't mind at all us taking up all the stairs and keeping it in the bathroom. Had the seafood platter a second time!! See previous review. If you are in Seahouses, do not miss this place....Lastly, it is also one of the cleanest places I have ever been in, they have an army of cleaners every morning, we tested out some of the secret places often missed (sneaky) they were spotless, and when you see the amount of memorabilia in the place it will amaze you

Room Tip: All the rooms are excellent

We called in to have a meal on Halloween.Children are only allowed in two of their rooms. We enquired about food at 5.30pm but were told they didn't begin serving food until 7pm.We stayed and had a drink and probably would have waited but were told we would have to change seats as the table we were at had been previously booked. If we had ordered food we were told that the people Sat at the next but one table to us would have to move to accommodate us.As this seemed a lot of hassle we decided not to wait. But the staff were lovely and we will know next time to book.
A quirky pub that has to be seen to be believed.

Great shame that this one night stop over in this lovely little pub was spoilt by the Owner!

Aggressive, rude and very impolite - what a shame and a great disappointment.

We enjoyed a lovely meal and nice beer - but The Owner has no manners and was very very rude

Thank you for your nice comments about the food and beer, but you fail to mention the reason why I came across as aggressive in your opinion. A member of your party removed an artefact which was securely fastened to the wall by chain and then proceeded to dismantle it. At the Ship we pride ourselves on all of our memorabilia and we have done for the last four generations. We thank you again for your nice comments.

I loved the feel to this old inn. We were made to feel welcome by the many bar staff working there at the time of our visit. We went for Sunday lunch but went a couple of times later in the week just for the atmosphere. We particularly liked the little horse-shoe of seats beyond the bar.

Food was good value and home-made and service was great. Highly recommended, even if you only pop in for a pint of Black Sheep.
