I was struggling to find accommodation on Holy Island, and stumbled upon this pub by chance when looking at the location of another hotel on Google Maps - and I'm glad I did. I called to enquire about availability and the staff were very friendly and helpful, even down to suggesting which room would be suitable. We stayed for 3 nights in room 2, which was a deluxe double with a four poster bed. It was a lovely room full of character. There was a bay window which you could sit in and enjoy views of the harbour. The pub itself gets very busy, but we always managed to find a spot to enjoy the vast array of beers and wines on offer. We also enjoyed an evening meal which was excellent and very good value for money. Breakfasts were exceptional as well, with a varied hot menu, and everything prepared for you, including toast. (I personally hate having to stand in the queue for the toaster that never browns your bread). The hotel is in a great location for ferry trips to the Farne Islands, and all surrounding attractions, which are a short car ride away including Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island, Alnwick, and many more. We enjoyed long walks along the magnificent coastline, although the golfers weren't particularly friendly when using the public path that goes through the course! A beautiful part of the country that we shall visit again and will definitely be back at the Olde Ship for another stay.
