My fiance and I just spent two nights for my 40th birthday and it was perfect. We stayed in Room 2, top marks for decor and comfort. The food was excellent, both nights. Andrew is not only an excellent chef but a fantastic host, you feel like you're sharing his home. Breakfast in the Wheelhouse is fantastic, great choice of food. The Star Inn is simply stunning, worth every penny. Thank you Andrew for the treat at dinner and thank you to all the staff for taking such good care of us.

Room Tip: Room 2 doesn't have a shower cubicle but the bath with the view is lovely, does have a mixer tap...

The Star Inn offers something for everyone. If you wish to sit in the gorgeous cozy bar or dress up and dine in one of the two very different restaurants the food will always be outstanding. The Champagne bar is a very sophisticated place to enjoy a drink. If you wish to have private dining in the most exquisite private dining room or have a larger function at the amazing Wheelhouse, all will be an occasion to remember. There is also lunch and dinner to be enjoyed in the herb garden, next to the swimming pool, something to look forward to in the summer. The service that is available for weddings is something else. The lovely receptionist, Francesca, will tailor make your stay or function. Francesca will make sure that you have the accommodation to make your stay very special. Also I must mention that the Star offer the most amazing outside catering. You can book a chef to cook in your own home or have the lovely staff delivery to your doorstep. Andrew I could not do all the entertaining at home without you and the wonderful Sarah. Your skills take the stress away. Thank you.

Me and my fiance travelled from Devon to visit The Star and it was definatley worth the milage!
We stayed in the lodge, room 4, and was blown away by the unique decor and comfort we had for the weekend. It was soo good we decided to stay another night!
Staff very friendly and helpful, (Anna and Francesca on the desk!).
The food was the major highlight, being foodies ourselves this food was of a very high standard and didnt disapoint. The dish that stays in my mind, "Black pudding and foie gras" Amazzzzing.
Andrews latest book is definatly a good purchase for all you foodies out there.
Will be sure to visit this establishment again, worth the journey, just wished we lived a bit nearer to come more often!!

Room Tip: Room 4 has the most amazing bed, yet can be a little loud in the morning as just above reception, bu...

this place consistently delivers on service and food quality. As it is a little bit of a journey from Leeds we usually stay at the Pheasant as well to make a weekend of it. Both establishments never fail to impress.

We booked overnight on valentines day this year and had a superb stay. Although we left booking rather late and were given the last room in the converted mill over the road, and although compact, it was just great, complete with rope suspended bed!!! We've travelled worldwide extensively over the years staying in 4 & 5 star places and this is up at the top end. We had a very comfortable nights stay and have to say the complimentary items in the room as and the guest lounge, were very well thought out (assorted cheese and crackers at the bar for example) as when we checked out we paid a visit to the quaint corner shop within and purchased the aforementioned mentioned cheeses and crackers to eat later! In the evening we had to take a very early 6.30 slot for dinner, again we were late booking, but it worked out so well as we were not rushed in any way and after a superb meal we retired to the 'coffee loft' up in the rafters for coffee and yummy choccies! All very chilled! The mornings breakfast was served around the biggest circular wooden table I've seen since King Arthurs time and again it was a relaxed affair with you asking for pretty much anything you wanted cooked, as well as the continental choices laid out. Well worth a visit!

Room Tip: We had room 4 which was on a mezzanine over the guest lounge- great bed and room, but several guests...
