We stayed for just the one night in August as we were booked into sister property, The Star Inn for a meal with friends. From the minute we drove into this picture postcard pretty village, we knew we were in for a treat. It was a beautiful day and the sun was shining so we checked in, dropped off our bags and headed for the outside terrace with a bottle of champagne between us.

Although we didn't eat at The Pheasant, the breakfast the following morning of Eggs Benedict (me) and full English (partner) could not be faulted and we will definitely be back to stay and to eat next time.

The rooms were really impressive. We were in what must be the family rooms, which are pleasantly self contained with a small kitchen area (great selection of flavoured teas) lounge with comfy sofas and fireplace and a good selection of glossy magazines. The complimentary little bottle of sloe gin was also a nice touch. One room had bunk beds and the other a double with Roberts radio was beautifully decorated and the bed was really comfortable. Robes in the bathroom were also well used walking from the indoor pool area back to the room after a relaxing pre dinner swim.

Can't wait to go back!

To celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary my husband and I decided to treat ourselves to a night at the Pheasant and what a wonderful idea it turned out to be. The hotel and surroundings are very pretty and the room was beautiful with flowers, champagne and treats a delight. We enjoyed the 7 course tasting menu in the evening with every mouthful a culinary delight and the full english breakfast was just as good. Our stay was made perfect by the excellent service we received, the staff were very accomodating and friendly. We highly recommend staying here and we will certainly be returning in the future.

We styed for 3 nights in September
Lovely location , facilites very good
food very good, but some slips in servcie stop this getting an excellent
Had to wait on arrival , then had to wait an hour before our room was ready , despite arriving at the correct time
Waitied over long for scones to arrive we had finished our tea , and no plates / knives to eat scones with ( we used our own initiative to find knives and plates ), having to ask the waitress to refill water glass ( it having been empty for a long time )- I would prefer to have the water left at the table so you can help yourself .
but these were minor blemishes on a very enjoyable stay in peaceful comforatable surroundings .

We recently ate in the restaurant to celebrate my birthday and will definately eat there again.
I loved the comfortable sofas to sit and have pre-dinner drinks. The restaurant was spacious and beautifully decorated. Great choice of food which was presented well and had wonderful flavours. My desert of Lime tart with a caramelised topping and banana ice-cream was absolutely gorgeous.
Our waitress was very attentive without being intrusive and was very friendly with a good sense of humour.
It was lovely to try and second lounge for our coffee with delicious homemade chocolates. A totally relaxing experience which I can't wait to repeat.

Room Tip: We didn't stay here, we only ate at the restaurant.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Pheasant has arguably one of the most beautiful Country Hotel settings in North Yorkshire, over looking the duck pond in the picturesque village of Harome. Originally converted from what had been the blacksmith's shop, village shop and barns, the main part of the hotel offers one single and eleven double rooms, whilst in the sheltered courtyard are two suites, the Pheasant Suite and Plum Cottage, each with its own private entrance, two further family rooms which each have two bedrooms and the heated indoor swimming pool. The stylish and highly individual interiors - designed by Director Jacquie Pern - give the accommodation a homely and welcome feel, which continues throughout the public areas: the lounge, bar, conservatory, dining room and terrace, providing a variety of options of where to eat or enjoy a drink. The Pheasant has established a reputation for great food under the capable hands of Chef/Director Peter Neville. Residents and non-residents can choose from a wide range of menus, all taking advantage of the wealth of local, seasonal produce, including a fixed price daily Market Menu, the A la Carte, and a Tasting Menu with optional matched wine package. The Pheasant has been awarded Welcome to Yorkshire's "Small Hotel of the Year 2016". In 2014 The Pheasant was awarded the Yorkshire Life "Small but Special Accommodation" Award. The Hotel has recently been awarded Three AA Red Stars Inspectors' Choice Country House Hotel. Seasonal and special breaks are available throughout the year. ... more   less
