“Great location. Well equiped cottage.”

Ideally situated for great walking and short distance into Hawes for pubs and restaurants. Cream tea at the Wensleydale Creamery a must. Cottage had everything we needed for a cosy evening in as well with all you need to get a good old fashioned roaring fire going! The two walks we did were relatively easy going for all ages, the first to Aysgill force and the second to Hardraw Falls. Very lucky with the weather having just missed the worst of the snow but with some still clinging to the drystone walls which was absolutely beautiful.

“Peaceful location, warm and welcoming.”
Reviewed 18 May 2017 for a stay in May 2017

Gayle Farm was in a perfect location for our walking holiday. The cottage had been well prepared and there was a welcome tray waiting for us. Vivien, the owner was good at answering any questions before our visit and sent very clear directions to make the property easy to find. The beds were comfy and the linen all fresh. Plenty of hot water and heaters to keep everyone cosy. A relatively small kitchen contained everything we required. We were pleased to have WiFi and the additional convenience of a pay phone for incoming calls. We look forward to a return visit!

“Perfect family booking in a perfect location”
Reviewed 3 February 2017 for a stay in January 2017

Hawes is lovely, good food, (& beer) good views etc but can be a bit busy to stay in. This cottage gives you easy access to Hawes yet so quiet. The farmhouse is lovely and a coal fire just finishes it off. Everything you need including free range eggs just 10 yards away. Cheese factory is close as is the pennine way. The Little white bus is close too so you can visit many places and even a red squirrel sanctuary. Wow - we saw lots. Owners are nice too.

“Fantastic, well equipped property”

Three generations of us are just back from Gayle Farmhouse. Location wise it couldn't be better, situated within easy walk of Hawes and within the small, beautiful village of Gayle, near the ford in the river. The size of the property meant we had plenty of room to spread out. We have never stayed in a place that was so well equipped. Sometimes you read that a property sleeps six...only to find you are scrabbling around for cooking pots and pans of reasonable size. We were pleasantly surprised to find a utility room containing a freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing board. There was even a step provided to help our small granddaughter reach the bathroom basin. A tray of goodies had been left for our arrival, together with milk for a cuppa - most welcome after a journey of six hours! Ideal position in which to explore the area around and then return to peace and tranquillity.
