The cottage was beautifully kept and presented, and well equipped. The owner had thought of everything to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable, from wine and chocolates for the adults and a gift for the baby, to beach towels and black out blinds. The Bay village is in pristine condition, with an attractive selection of holiday cottages. Ours backed on to a green area with a boules pitch. The on site cafe and take away was very good, and we didn't try the pub but that looked good too. We enjoyed the swimming pool, and the wild flower meadows, and sitting by the lake watching the fish. Best of all was direct access to the beautiful beach, and easy proximity to all the attractions of the lovely Yorkshire coast. We will be back!
we had a wonderful break at meadow side cottage. Every wish is catered for - welcome pack, children's toys, pet toys. Couldn't fault a thing and shall definitely return.
Arrived at Meadowside Cottage on Friday for a long weekend. When first arriving at The Bay, Filey my first thoughts were that it looked breath taking. Every garden and every home were perfect!
Meadowside Cottage was easy to find and when opening the front the door it was even better than I expected. It was decorated beautifully, very rustic and Beach Hut/Nautical theme. There waiting for us was a welcome pack which had everything you could have wished for - including Chocolates for the kids and a bottle of Wine for the adults. There was also a welcome pack for my dog, Marley. I thought this was very thoughtful. I have never been anywhere before that has been so accommodating for dogs.
Downstairs was lovely and open plan, with a very modern kitchen which included everything and I mean everything you could ever need in a kitchen. Tea, Coffee, Filter Coffee, Sugar, Utensils a plenty, every glass you could ever think of, cleaning supplies, condiments .... the list would be endless - even including sandwich bags and bin liners. There was a large dining table, two comfy sofas, a large flat screen TV/DVD/FREEVIEW (there were even DVD's to watch and quite a lot to choose from too). Lot's of candles around the room to make it homely on a evening (spare ones included too). Board games under the coffee table which my youngest loved, I also had the odd game of draughts which I haven't played in years. Very family orientated cottage!! A Toy Box, A basket by the door with every outdoor game you could think of - even a windbreaker for the beach. There was also a large downstairs toilet and a lovely sweeping staircase up to the bedrooms. I think Wi-Fi is getting added to the cottage which will be a bonus for some people but for me I come on holiday to get away from everything so it didn't bother me. One thing I must also add is the cottage even has a spares box - included a sewing kit, tweezers, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, creams ... again the list is endless. This was perfect for me as we forgot two of our toothbrushes and didn't want to trail out and buy some - so we just replaced them the next day when we did go out. You don't even have to replace them, you can just write what you have used and they get replaced for you at no cost. FANTASTIC!!
Upstairs there was a double bedroom with a walk in wardrobe, again decorated beautifully - very shabby chic. I loved it. Very comfy bed and TV with freeview. The second bedroom had two single beds again decorated lovely - the kids said the beds were comfy too. The bathroom was very modern with the best shower I've ever had. A large rainfall shower that I could have stayed in all day - lovely and hot too. We took towels but had no need too, we had enough spare towels and beach towels to last weeks!
Outside was a lovely patio area with table and chairs and the surrounding gardens and areas are perfectly landscaped with not a spec of litter and not one thing out of place.
The walks you can go on around the area are amazing. You can go to the meadow which has a large lake and a jetty or walk down to the beach which has another amazing lake and jetty that you go past to get to the beach. The beach itself is spotless with a nice sandy beach. You can walk along the beach into Filey itself then we walked back along the cliff tops. The views are spectacular.
On site there is a large pub which also serves food. It was lovely decorated. There is also an Italian Restaurant/Cafe that serves ice creams/coffee/cakes and meals throughout the day if you don't want to eat the pub. These are both reasonable priced. You can even take dogs into the Pub and Restaurant!!
The Leisure Centre has a large pool, Sauna and Steam Room which are great. If you want to treat yourself there is also a Beauty Salon. If you want to pay extra you can also play tennis, archery and other activities or even hire bikes.
I wouldn't hesitate to return to Meadowside Cottage or The Bay Filey. The only downside of the holiday was having to return home!

This is our 3rd visit to Meadowside Cottage and we have another stay planned for later on in the year. The cottage is always spotlessly clean, has all home comforts and we feel relaxed as soon as we arrive. The beds are made up, a welcome pack waiting for us and even one especially for our Westie, Rosie! On site facilities are good and there are plenty of walks, both beach and coastline, nearby. Would certainly recommend it.
This is a fabulous cottage on lovely site. You couldn't ask for more from the cottage. Lovely welcome pack and my dog was very pleased to find a ball as soon as she arrived! It's as warm and comfortable as anyone could need. Great access to the beach too. Loved it! We will be back.
