Whenever we have visited Alford, the Half Moon Restaurant has always been full so have had to eat elsewhere. Travelling through Alford, we stopped for lunch and were flabbergasted to find the restaurant empty. We had an excellent lunch -- in fact the liver and bacon casserole on the special menu was the best I have had in a long time, a lot of liver in a very flavoursome gravy with mash, baby carrots and other vegetables. The total bill was very acceptable.
We could not understand why such excellent meals were not enjoyed by more people. Next time we are in Alford, the first place we will stop for lunch will be the Half Moon.More
