We (8 adults) stayed at Heron House over a long weekend to celebrate a few friends' birthdays that were coinciding. We had the most wonderful time at the house. It was spotlessly clean and so comfortable - we all slept well in lovely white bed linen and super comfortable beds. The kitchen is so spacious and well equipped for our celebrations, which spilled out into the pretty garden and summer house. Julie kindly provided some local fizz, Kent strawberries, snacks and a cheeseboard for our arrival which went down a storm. All the decor is tasteful and everything is good quality. The top master bedroom with the en suite is gorgeous - such a treat to retreat to! It's a great location for exploring Whitstable, the beach and all the shops and restaurants are within walking distance, as is the train station (about 10-15 mins walk if your bags aren't too heavy!) It was our first time to Whitstable and we absolutely loved it - hope to return to Heron house sometime soon. Many thanks Julie and Alessandro for the perfect stay.
Just back from short break in Whitstable and Heron House was fantastic. We appreciated the Kentish treats Julie, the owner, welcomed us with - a cheese platter, strawberries and local sparkling wine. The attention to detail in the house was astonishing, luxurious and well equipped - there were even crab lines to borrow, picnicware and board games. The 7 of us had a very comfortable stay. Julie could not have been more helpful plus clear and friendly communication before arrival. and We are looking forward to returning (moral dilemma to leave good review as we want to keep this place for ourselves!) Thank you and Whitstable - you are delightful.
The house itself is envy inducing, and you'll wish it was yours! Comfortable beds in spacious rooms, a highly equipped kitchen with a sun trap garden. Everything is finished to an extremely high standard, and the host was very generous to leave us some Pimms to ease us into the sunny weekend :)
Whitstable isn't huge but nothing is more than 10 mins walk away, including bus stops to nearby Canterbury. Parking at the house is really only for one car, which can be tricky for a group of 4 separate couples, but you can usually figure something out in the nearby streets.
Everything was just exceptional and we're making up excuses to return already!
It is difficult to add anything new to the superb reviews that have already been written about Heron House. Everything I have read (apart from a person called Paul who clearly has no respect for other peoples property) is absolutely true. The house is very spacious, exceptionally clean and the fixtures, fittings, linens etc. are all of high quality.
The garden and garden room are a delight and the area is exceptionally quiet despite being only minutes from both the sea front and the high street. The parking is a real bonus as Whitstable is not an easy place to find a parking space. Furthermore an additional parking space was also arranged for us. At all times communication with Julie was prompt and friendly and she organised the return of our deposit within 24 hours.
We were a party of six ranging in age from seventy to four and a half. We all had a wonderful time and my Granddaughter said "this has been the best holiday house I have ever stayed in.......when can we come back?". The answer was..... as soon as possible!
We stayed in Heron House for a week in July as we were in Whitstable for a family wedding.
The house suited everyone's needs including our 2 dogs and was by far the cleanest holiday property we have ever stayed in.
The layout and size of the house gave ample room for everyone.
Only five minutes walk into Whitstable shops and beach meant it was in an ideal location.
The sun shone for us every day which meant we were able to use the sunny garden (shade provided by an apple tree was ideal for the dogs).
The welcome goodies and flowers we discovered on arrival were a nice touch and very enjoyable.
Thank you for making our week away a holiday and wedding to remember.
