My husband and I booked a table at the Royal for an early evening meal. there was plenty of vacant tables and we were shown to one as soon as we entered and given the menu. We were a little disappointed that the menu was not very varied, the Fish and Chips looked good but we did not want that so chose a steak with chips in a pot and watercress salad. The chips were lovely and crisp and the watercress salad had a nice dressing on it, we ate our steaks but they could have been a lot tender. The staff were friendly but we waited too long for a choice of desert so left after paying the bill.
