“Very friendly”
Review of The Admiral Owen

Reviewed 26 July 2016

Having walked from Ramsgate to Sandwich and then explored, we were somewhat footsore, weary and in need of a friendly pint. We stumbled across this establishment and were very pleased to do so. The barman was most friendly and served up icy cold beverages in timely fashion ( Stowfords on tap, plus proper ales). This place is quite a mad eclectic mix and looks like a collection of parlours from a bygone era with its button back leather sofas, gate leg dining tables and collection of knick knackery, plants and paintings. However, if you have blisters and are in dire need of soothing, comfort and a well kept pint mixed in with a friendly welcome then this is the place for you. A copy of the current 'Kent Life' was available to browse through and we spent a happy hour bathing our sore tootsies in an unhurried and very comfortable atmosphere before heading with great reluctance to the station. We will return.

Visited in the middle of the folk and ale festival wow sandwich is an amazing place and the little pub is fantastic. Lots of real ale plus they sell non alcoholic beer always a plus from a non drinker. Great friendly knowledgeable bar staff. Next time you visit Sandwich check out the Admiral Owen.

An old bar with old fittings old cliental that could tell a few stories. Bar man looks like an old sea dog with teeth missing and not very chatty to new comers. However, visited twice as it has that lived in feel. Big comfy chairs and open fires when needed. Lots of character to this old drinking house.
