Went here for the banquet night. Not sure why its called that as all you do is choose from the menu for ten quid. Food is nice but it is always quiet, not sure how they survive. Only issue is the waiter, seriously bad body odour. They also do not stock still or sparkling water.
We had a really nice takeaway from Ace of Spice, The food had lots of flavour and each dish our party ordered was different with different flavours and texture. I find sometimes places use the same sauce but then just change the heat accordingly, not the ace of spice.
The Quality of the Chicken was good, the Lamb seemed a little chewy but still enjoyable.
I visited as part of a special occasion with a group of friends. The restaurant itself looks well maintained and is pleasant enough.
However the service was absolutely shocking. The party all arrived at slightly different times as you do. As the first of us arrived we were offered drinks, pretty standard. Then we waited absolutely ages for the drinks to be served to our table. When they were served other people had arrived and they were not offered a drink.
The poppadoms we ordered came out relatively quickly, the problems came with the starters and main course. We waited about 40 minutes for our starters of which 3 had to be sent back. They ordered King Prawn puri only to find there was relatively little prawn in the dish two halves of king prawn. The staff did nothing to resolve this, did not offer an alternative or any meaningful apology.
We were asked if we would like any additional drinks when clearing our starters, a few of these appeared but most of them had been missed.
From this the main course took about an hour to be served. We raised this with two of the staff present, who were dealing with the complaint well. We were then confronted by the manager, who took our complaint very personally, would not take responsibility for any of the issues and was very defensive and angry towards us. We were just informing him of the issues politely and he was disagreeing and arguing with us. He even went over and started confronting guests at the table to ask their opinions to check that we were not lying. His defense was that the restaurant and take away was busy...this was not our problem, if you can't cope with the orders do not take the booking, or hire extra staff.
The manager did not take on any responsibility for the problems, attempt to apologise, listen or attempt to rectify any issues.
